Hey team,
New to the site and been collecting for a few years now. Been mostly collecting Deadpool and X-Men but I found online someone selling 6 comics which one I noticed to be Spiderman #16 where he fights DareDevil. I looked on here and the top graded one goes for a few grand so I look forward to seeing what shape it is in.
Here is the kicker, $2 is what I paid for all 6 including a Hulk comic that looks old but not sure what issue. I don't think the person knew what they had...Anyone else have some stories like this? Now I will post a pic when I get it cause from what I hear around here. No pic=it didn't happen haha.
Suffice to say I am in a good mood. If you get what you say, that's great. I want to see what you actually receive. |

I hope everyone can see that To me anyway , its pretty awesome , the only comic really bad is the Journey into Mystery. The rest are 5+ and the Avengers #1 is in pretty good shape , but i dont want to jinx myself . There is a comic con near where i live and and Stan Lee will be there , so i was wondering , would it be better to get them signed if i could , then CGC them ?
I'm sorry, but I hate you now. On the other hand, though, you just used up every bit of good luck for the rest of your life. It's downhill from here. It's kind of reassuring to know that there are still collections unaccounted for out there. Maybe I'll hit the jackpot one day too. |

I think I forgot to update in March, but here's what I have as of 4/3;
Comics 26,209 Value $141,771.50
Still haven't been able to slow down, and I'm planning on getting some big ones later this year. I have a feeling I'll break 200,000 by December. |

I'm a little late to the party here, but I experience this regularly on this site. I just attribute it to everybody going about their lives and taking care of what's important to them. There was a Journey Into Mystery 85 for sale in the classifieds, but no information about it. I emailed asking what condition and how much, and never heard back from them. I've had people solicit books to me from my want list and then not respond if I find something I want. I would say it happens about 50% of the time, and that tells me that a bunch of people with books for sale would like to sell them, but don't want to actually have to do something to make it happen. There are some good ones here, too, though. |

Any book can become hot currently if it introduces somebody who shows up in a movie. It's really crazy. See selling prices for Avengers 223 & 257, Incredible Hulk 271, Batman Adventures 12, among others. |

There are a few there I'd like to buy, but if you want to sell all of them at once, nobody is going to offer you more than mycomicshop.com will. Selling them on ebay would be a pain if you don't care about comics, and local shops will try to pay pennies on the dollar. There is another option available at mycomicshop.com besides selling the books as a collection. They have a database you can enter the books into, and the books they need will have an offer. Some of the books you have will be eligible for consignment, and they'll help you if you get frustrated or confused. Entry of the books is easy, too. |

You should contact mycomicshop.com and ask to speak to the owner, Buddy Saunders, about the different options they offer. I doubt you would want to sell the books directly to them, but they have consignment options with fees that get smaller percentage-wise as the sale price rises. In a nutshell, Buddy and you would make arrangements for you to send the books to them to be graded. You'll have the opportunity to see the grades they are assigned, and then decide what you want to do with each book. You can have any of the books returned to you then, and then assign what's left to their 2 consignment choices: A set price determined by you that appears with their inventory items (and on Ebay as a Buy It Now item), or their weekly auction. Commission is the same for both, I believe. After the books sell and are payed for by the buyer, they send the money to you, minus their cut, in a couple of days. I've sold both ways, and I prefer the auction because the selling prices seem to be a little higher. There isn't a reserve, but nothing I've put on their auction was ever in danger of selling too low.
I would love to see what you have, but I think we would end up pissing each other off instead of making any deals. Collectors usually like to get highest quality for the least they have to pay, and it sounds like you want to make as close to market as you can on every book you sell. Nothing wrong either way, but using mycomicshop.com takes feelings out of the equation. If your books are as nice as you say, that would pretty much ensure they end up with people who cherish them. |

I'm just waiting for my turn to find some forgotten treasures. You hear stories just enough to let you know there are still some out there, and there are still people ignorant of the potential value. I just haven't met any yet. Robbie wrote:

My numbers for May.Issues: 31,064Value: $180,103.56 I can't believe I have the 2nd largest collection of all these people.. No doubles, either. Only a few of us know what it's like to have as much or more stock than a comic shop. I have an entire master-sized bedroom set up with shelves specifically for comics on all 3 full walls, plus both sides of the walk-thru closet leading to another smaller bedroom, which they will be spilling into next. |
