I believe you are right on both suggestions. When I was shopping for the DC's Giant #6 of Superman, Justice League, Batman, and Teen Titans, which I purchased, there were a few kids looking at the previous issues. One of the them asked me questions about the DC comics because they said it was thicker than a regular comic book that they are used to seeing. They also liked the idea of getting 3 marvel comics wrapped in one purchase. They were excited to get them. They brought back memories of when I was around their age sifting through comics at a flea market, book stores, convenient stores, and grocery stores. Yes, Diamond needs competition ... it is economically healthy for the comic book industry in the long run. My two cents ...

I too get confused on why some characters 'First Full appearances' are more valuable then the 'First Cameo appearances'. Not sure who creates this value? Perhaps the comic book stores and online stores seeing an increase of that comic book purchases? Then sharing that knowledge to comic book companies that state values of comics? Or simply because an average price of selling on EBAY creates the value?
