DC Superman Comics - Unidentifiable
kds_comics
|
Here's the first one
http://comicspriceguide.com/collection/london-editions/superman/4/ubsris
Here's the process for the rest - Search for Superman #4 in the "Search Price Guide" title and issue. Country will default to United States of America .
Leaving Superman and Issue #4 in search window, change country to "United Kingdom" and hit "Search" button a second time. Your issue should come right up.
Use a similar process for the other issues.
BTW - CPG apparently does not have issue #6 of this same series - you may have to submit as a new issues with picture. Check rules on this. Or you can search by publisher. I am too lazy/short on time to try it.
Hope this helps. edited by kds_comics on 1/4/2016 edited by kds_comics on 1/4/2016 |

Story is very good - especially the first 20 or so issues. The problem, of course, is that they printed so many issues...
Cover to Excalibur #4 has to be in top ten of funniest covers of all time.
Just my opinion. edited by kds_comics on 1/21/2016

Comic Boxes

Actually you can get a corrugated Plastic Comic Storage Box from Bags Unlimited
https://www.bagsunlimited.com/p-4027-comic-storage-box.aspx
The advantage - it would seem to me - is that it is more durable, won't attract bugs and vermin like cardboard. The disadvantage is to make it acid free material, it is more expensive than a cardboard box. The box is made from polypropylene - the same "basic" material comic book bags are made from.
Hope this helps if this is what you need.

To answer you question on reliability - Comic Price Guide is a wonderful Guide. 95% of the time, you will get a good, "real world" price a comic will sell at.
But there are other free guides on the web. The Overstreet Comic Price Guide - you can find prices from this guide online if you search. Comic Book Realms puts out a free guide as well. Real comics are sold on My Comic Shop.com
As with any endeavor, you should check more than one source for a price. The biggest discrepancy I have found is that low grade 1970's comic will be a little low here compared to Overstreet price and a few others.
MY OPINION - is that CPG tends to reflect the fact that if a comic is worth $2 to $3 big dealers are not bothering to bag, board and display and are blowing out these comics in low grade for $0.50 to $1.00 - so I think to the little guy like me they are undervalued.

If you post some pictures of one of your comics here memebers can provide an opinion on a grade. Include interior picture if you can. This would be a rough estimate - still folks here are pretty good at this stuff. |

Green Lantern: Revenge of the Green Lanterns Paper
kds_comics

"Revenge of the Green Lanterns" is not an actual title - it is only a subtitle given to the trade paperback. As you found from experience, the subtitle is not searchable.
This is the Green Lantern Vol 4 series found on CPG here. http://comicspriceguide.com/titles/green-lantern/slxyh Then look under the Trade Paper Backs to find this TPB comic collection. When looking for trades - Most of the time ...find the title and volume of the ORIGINAL series, then look under trades.
Occasionaly TPBs are listed on thier own title when they are collected from different series or are unique. Example is here http://comicspriceguide.com/titles/crisis-on-multiple-earths/pirrn SHAMELSS PLUG - I have this one is anyone is interested http://comicspriceguide.com/collection/dc/crisis-on-multiple-earths/3/rkqpmv
Hope this helps. In the serach, usually less is more, if you know what I mean, edited by kds_comics on 2/15/2016 edited by kds_comics on 2/15/2016 edited by kds_comics on 2/15/2016 edited by kds_comics on 2/15/2016 |

Thanks for the information - before the video I had no idea what they were trying to do. I think what I heard is get back to focused stories with the primary characters. I do applaud DC for trying to tell the good stories. Time will tell if they succeed. |

Thank you
Not that hard really - for "The True Story of Smokey the Bear" just search for the title "Smokey the Bear". http://comicspriceguide.com/titles/true-story-of-smokey-the-bear-the/popri Many times searching a portion of the title is better than the compelte title. This is becasue publishers put extra words in the title that are not in the Indica (not in the official published title) or are different than the official comic title. Example: Walt Disney's Donald and Daisy is incorrect - the corret title is "Donald and Daisy" Walt Disney is not part of the title - just an embelishment. Ditto with Classics Illustrated - just seach "Classics Illustrated". It would help greatly if you know the issue number. And as others in this thread noted - if published outside USA you need to put in a different country or leave country blank. Or just seach the title. For example, you last one, Patoruzu, appears to be here. http://comicspriceguide.com/titles/adventures-of-patoruzu/tksrk Hope this helps - I will let you do the rest. Cover miscut
kds_comics
|
I am unsure what you mena by "mis-cut". There were many printing - (what would you call them - challenges?) imperfections in the late 1960's through the early 1980's. Printing pressed were mechanical devices - no comptuer controls, no sensors or anything like that. Printing was depending on a mechancial device to keep the page square. Paper was of medicore quality too - comics were not meant to be kept for a long time. Interior pages that have a little extra paper where the mechanism did not "cut" the page square - as long as they are minior - are no big deal. Covers that were cut off center or skewed - well - it all depend on "how bad is it?" Here's an example of a skewed cover Many interior pages were not cut correctly at the printer http://smg.photobucket.com/user/divadrabnud/media/TOS98Aas.jpg.html How bad do you think it is? Not too bad, but obvisouly not correct. All defects detract from value - how bad the defect is is how much it detracts value. Hope this perspective helps a little. KDS |

Tales from the crypt (1968)
kds_comics

Please add a picture - be very careful on these - a lot of comic and magazines in the late 1960's and into the 1970's were reprints of 1950's stuff. Marvel did a sereis on "Where Monsters Dwell" - just a 1950's rerpint back from when there were (gasp!) no super-hero comics. Just seach "Crypt" and you get 34 titles - several with the "Tales from the Crypt" title. |
