A Marvel Movie Special #1 (Time Bandits), VF+. February 1980.

Time Bandits?? That's so cool... I've got to get my hands on one. I love Terry Gilliam's work (Brazil is one of my favorite movies ever).

Great thread.

A local comic shop here put on a talk with Terry Gilliam years ago, that I was lucky enough to attend. When he asked my name for signing my Holy Grail, I told him initially 'eBay buyer'.

Thought I'd post some of my signed stuff (although most is not comics).
First up is my copy of Elektra Lives Again signed by Frank Miller while I was chaperoning him at the Anime North convention in 2003. That was fun filled 3 days, spent making sure he was 'wined and dined' and talking about creators, the industry and 9/11. I wish I had gotten a sketch from him, but I did get to watch him draw several.

My Holy Grail DVD signed by Terry Gilliam. This was at a talk put on by a local comic shop.

Wings of Honeamise DVD signed by Nobuyuki Ohnishi

And for the heck of it, a Metallica bootleg signed by the band before the show at a meet and greet in '89 on the Justice tour.

That's a nice 63. Especially with all that black on the cover.

I assume for X-men 160, you mean first 'teen' Illyana, since she appears in GS X-men #1.

Congrats on the Marvel Comics Presents #1. Nice you got one finally, nice grade. I enjoyed that series a lot. Do you have the Weapon X story in the series? Pretty cool story for a Woverine fan. Think it starts on issue 72. BWS has some wicked covers for it.

Thanks HR. Yes & it's a spanking copy too. Seen 101 copies over the years but all in crap condition Ha ha.
I have the first 10 issue in TPB floppy form (forget what its called, Will post it when i remember it Lol)
I know of the BWS books you mentioned, If there that good i would like to try for them one day, Thanks for the heads up smile

Is that Marvel Comics Presents hard to find in high grade? I have a beautiful copy, but thought there'd be way more out there.

Nice to see another collector trying to obtain a large Fantastic Four run. I cutoff at 300 primarily because the Englehart issues were so bad and I don't have space to get the rest. With the cancellation of the title though, I've been tempted since I could conceivably get a full run now.

I got my run of 150-199 as a bulk purchase, so I don't know if it was always harder to find stuff in that range. I think it was the 140's range where I finished up my run myself (aside from the $.35 variants and one of the Toybiz issues).

I'm still trying to decide if I want to do news stand/direct variant runs or just first come first serve. Price variants is another thing I haven't thought about either....more to think on.

I had considered that as well, but putting aside from the space considerations, I was looking at those diamond 'whitman' variants from the 180-190s, as well as the newsstand and Canadian price versions from around the Byrne era. Then I found out about the UK versions with the different banner and decided to limit it only to the test market price variants (just for the challenge). It was too much.

Back to comics. I recently found a source for Amazing Spider-man upper grade Canadian newsstand versions. These began with 233 and ended at 279. I already owned a bunch of these and decided to fill in my run. After picking these ones up, I only need 3 issues to fill the run (or 11 more Canadian versions to have a full set of those)

Marvel Premiere 15 is the first Iron Fist, but it looks like most of his early appearances have seen a bit of a bump in the past year or so.

I think I mentioned this on the old board before it died -- I was thinking of going for a TTA pre-hero run myself, but the Groot and Ant-man's make it pricey (even for solid low grades). Nice books.

And another of my needed Dr. Doom appearances.

Correct Pricing.

You need to ask yourself a few questions.
Did you have your books graded and certified by one of the many companies that do so? If not, you should not be using the CGC prices, as these generally only apply to this types of books. Also, the CGC prices are based on an algorithim and aren't always accurate for many books.
Another question to ask, did you buy these and put them away in plastic sleeves and boards and assume that everything is therefore mint? If you buy books of the rack, most people generally don't consider them grading higher than a 9.4, as most books have some kind of imperfection (even a slightly blunted corner can result in a drop in grade). It's very unlikely that most of your books would be 9.8, which is likely where the hassling is coming from.

Nice key ASM books you picked up. Great iconic story. Congrats Aaron.

You have a few of these yourself, don't you?
My original plan was to buy Strange Tales 89 when I sold the Akira set, but ended up getting that by other means. So I considered getting the first Punisher, but Netflix made those too expensive at the moment.

I haven't really put that much thought into it yet. I've only recently considered changing my focus on keys (since space is a consideration now). I may go for some ASM type ones, since there are a lot of those. Perhaps that first Aunt May/Uncle Ben in Strange Tales. Of course, I have to save up some cash for a few months before I have to make that decision.
