Time Bandits?? That's so cool... I've got to get my hands on one. I love Terry Gilliam's work (Brazil is one of my favorite movies ever).

Great thread.

A local comic shop here put on a talk with Terry Gilliam years ago, that I was lucky enough to attend. When he asked my name for signing my Holy Grail, I told him initially 'eBay buyer'.

I'm personally a massive MP fan. You met Terry Gilliam, That is very cool Cool

It is a glorious page in person. Insane amount of detailed inking.
A published cover from his last group of work. Weird looking people is what Basil was best known for.

Best artist in my collection is this guy.

a pencil rough for Chessmen of Mars (book 5 in the series). The centerpiece of my ERB related art.
it's a freakin Frazetta. smile Frank Jr had someone disassemble and auction off pieces from one of his dad's sketchbooks to raise money for the Frazetta museum.
(White Indian is on the back.)

Wow, Frazetta drawing...Cannot get any better.

I love the mod covers so much . They have so much pop and as a child of the 70's and 80's, those designs were still out and around in popular culture.

These are the last two appearances by the Charlton versions of these characters before they appeared in Crisis. Neither are particularly great reading, but it is fascinating to see what kind of plans were out there for them before they were purchased by DC.

Couldn't tell you anything about these shows/movies but the story on the Moon thing was barking mad. I am almost, but not quite, tempted to track down a copy of it to watch but I don't think there is enough whiskey to sustain me through it.

Sargon

Lol agree, I have never heard or seen that "mouse on the moon" either.
Crazy ideas them days.

Frazetta met Roy Krenkel in art school. They worked together on some EC sci-fi books and later they did the ERB paperback covers for Ace Books.

I have one Krenkel inked sketch.

Sweet copy of the first DC Korak son of Tarzan.

Thanks a lot! I am enjoying your thread too.

I love the Koraks and Tarzans from this era. The stories are so much fun to read and the art is amazing.

Sargon

DC Korak & Tarzan (& Weird Worlds with John Carter) are fun. Mostly Kubert artwork.
The Carson of Venus backup in Korak is great; rarely get to see that character.

I have the first DC Tarzan issue & i did enjoy it. I believe i have a book that features Korak somewhere...Not that awesome issue from DC through. Would love to get some one day.

I'm sure you know all or most of the LCS in Melbourne, Whether they grade or not i don't know (probably not).

I imagine you are looking to get either a raw grading done or Slabbed grading. CGC only deals from America & the only place i know in Australia that slabs is in Brisbane, Queensland (Halo cert.) http://www.halocertificationptyltd.com/index.html

Other then that you could ring all the LCS's & ask. sorry i can't help you any further.
Here is a link to some info that may help you out.

It's a reprint by Eerie Mag.

Think this it, Not sure need more info but, A pic of the book if possible.

Here it is in Comic book DB...
http://comicbookdb.com/issue.php?ID=298389

Could not find anything in the CPG database, it may be worth around $60 in NM (9.4). That's how much all the other Eerie reprints are worth from around that time.

Hope that help's.

I have decided that as I get new comics, I'm gonna start inputting the creators in the data base. Question...what does the "Penciler" do? lol The options are like the editor, cover artist, inker, etc, but no penciller. Is this just a different way of saying artist or something?

Thanks

That is correct, Penciler is the artist!

Hi, I need some help with finding an issue. I searched the database for the Inside Image #13 from 1994 I have but don't see it on here. There is a number 13 but not from 1994. Sorry I don't have a scanner at the moment, but the cover has Spawn and Batman on the front and says Miller and Mac attack on the bottom. Was just trying to add it to my collection box. Thanks!!

Does the book have two covers (one on each side) ?. I think #12 does.
Comic Book db shows it has two covers on #12 http://comicbookdb.com/issue.php?ID=104599
Take another look at the CPG database & see if its the same for your #13.
Other than that it could be a variant.

Yep! i think it is a double cover, Here it is on eBay! http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/INSIDE-IMAGE-13-Batman-Spawn-Meet-for-the-First-Time-Miller-Mac-F-Dark-Knight-/301888829015?hash=item4649f9f657:g:4B0AAOxymnRSF-UR

Signed Comics

Signatures do not automatically increase the value of a book. There is a school of thought that believe any and all writing on comics (signatures included) is a detriment. Some collectors would never purchase a signed book. Ofcourse there are others who pay a premium for signatures. I don't believe there is any established standard or guide when it comes to signatures. Many factors go into what someone will pay for a signed book. First and foremost the buyer has to believe it's real. Secondly, the desirability of the signature. Obviously, the book itself is important.

I'm curious as to who here at CPG thinks signatures increase or decrease the value of a comic.

I have about 10 signed books (i love them for what they are) But... i do not actively seek them out as i simply don't like a scribble (no offence) across a beautiful cover. But their are some signatures that would not say no to Lol, Steranko, Kirby, Miller, Lee falk.

I would like to think that most signed books would have a little increase in value not much though & also for me the placement of the sig. is very important. eg: ASM #400 enhanced cover is for me a big no no.
On any inside page somewhere down the bottom is just fine IMHO.

Well said Doug! I think most collectors back in the day didn't see them as much of anything (an inferior copy of the 1st print) Thus they where either badly handled or simple lost.

I have a thing for second printings. They are much rarer through the 80's & into the 90's. (not well learned in them from then on)
They do exist from the silver age.

Marvel was the classic gold 2nd print & silver for 3rd print. meaning back grounds or headings on the cover
DC was harder to spot with a little II, III so on...under the info top LHS.

But for most cases it's just written in the indica.
