How do you sort your collection...

When I first started collecting, I listed all of my books once I purchase them in a hard copy list using pen and paper. I used to keep all of my books in alphabetical and numerical order and simply expanded into new boxes as needed. Over time this became very time consuming and impractical since I was constantly adding new books.
Now, I still maintain my hard copy list, but I now use the box function under CPG and have unique numbers written on each of my boxes that match these unique numbers. Each box is organized alphabetically and once a box is filled to capacity, I simply move to a new box and start the process again.

    Your Opinion: Most Iconic Covers

    rperryx2000
    rperryx2000
Per the title of this topic, the iconic status of these books (Turok and Star Wars Dark Empire) is per my opinion.
Definition of opinion: a personal view, attitude, or appraisal.
If interested, below are the reasons why I consider the covers iconic. But be forewarned, all of this is based on my opinion and no one else's.
It's true that neither Turok Dinosaur Hunter or Star Wars Dark Empire are as old or as widely know as the DC and Marvel characters. None of the covers from these series can rival iconic covers like Action Comics #1, Detective Comics #27, Fantastic Four #1, Amazing Fantasy #15, Amazing Spider-Man #121, Giant Size-X-Men #1, etc.
However, Turok Dinosaur Hunter 1 was one of the best selling comics of 1993 and outsold every other book except for the Reign of Superman tie-in books that year. Turok is my personal favorite Valiant series so I am jaded of course. In the early nineties, Valiant was right with Image behind Marvel and DC in the sales column and had revitalized Gold Key characters like Solar, Magnus and Turok. Additonally, series like Rai, X-O, Shadowman, Archer and Armstrong and Bloodshot all sold very well and had large fan followings (not in the range of titles like X-Men or Batman of course).
Regarding Star Wars: Dark Empire #1, this is a book that came on the scene in the early 90s and along with Star Wars Heir to Empire (also published in 1991) really got people interested in the continuing comic adventures of the characters and settings from the movies and inspired a comic line and series of novels that are still popular to this day. Classics like Dark Empire II, Crimson Empire 1,2 and 3, Tales of the Jedi, you name it all followed this book.

I'm still mainly following the Batman/Green Lantern/Superman Rebirth titles for DC and the Spider-Man/Star Wars titles for Marvel. After Secret Empire, I got pulled back into Captain America and Thor. I haven't read those titles since before Siege. My Darkhorse/Image/Valiant titles are always solid. I'm a big fan of the Star Trek mirror universe so I had to pick-up the Next Generation title from IDW. I've also been tracking down some of the issues of the Walt Simonson run on Thor from the 80s. That run of Thor had some very entertaining stories and epic art.

Oh well, I typed up a big response but was kicked out of the forum.

Long story short: Completist/Married for Spider-Man, Batman, Superman, Spawn, Aliens, Predator, Star Wars, and all Valiant books (especially Pre-Unity, Gold, and Signature Series).

Squirrel: lenticular, hologram, foil, embossed comic covers from nearly every major publisher

Old Man: Have not enjoyed and thus stopped buying all X-Men books after 2010.

What do you thnk of Marvel's "Fresh Start?"

    rperryx2000
    rperryx2000
I was originally irritated that "Fresh Start" was getting rid of the legacy numbering. But at this point I don't really care. Even my all-time favorite title (Amazing Spider-Man) has been rebooted multiple times and the legacy numbering at this point seems kind of meaning less. Same goes for some of the other titles on my pull list like Venom, Captain America, and the Mighty Thor. At this point, given the consistent writing and art in these titles, I'm going to keep buying them regardless of the number on the cover. Of course this may change if I don't like the new creative teams on the next volume of these books (except for Amazing Spider-Man).

On a side note it does make it harder to remember in which specific issue and volume something happened versus just remembering one specific legacy number.
