Thanks Tex! I remember when i first got that ASM #306 (mid 90's) & thought "i seen that from somewhere else, Hmm..." Lol. UXM #244 is a sleeper in my opinion, Jubilee could be a cool character in the movie's if done right. |

How many do you have? Can you list the names of a few? (meaning if their's too many, List them all). Are they wrapped up or in a plastic bag with a white cardboard inserted...Or just on there own?
Will wait to see what you have before going any further.
Sorry, Just let you know that i'm not interested in buying them. Just helping out. edited by Gilgandra on 1/31/2016 |

I hope you are right about uncanny 244 being a sleeper of a book. I got 8 copies of it in varies grades. In the late 90's I would pick them up when I'd see them cheap. Still a cheap 1st appearance seeing how things are now. I really enjoyed the writing between Wolverine and Jubilee in the 90's Xmen and Wolverine books in the 90's. They had a great story going for them. Didn't enjoy her becoming a vampire though.
Here's hoping HR. I'll cross my fingers just for you. |

Gil, you ever seen Last Exile? Highly recommended. It is one of my favorite series. I'm a big Studio Ghibli fan ever since I caught the massively butchered Warriors of the Wind (Nausicaa) on pay TV in the 80s. Even their worst films are still pretty good (the Ursula le Guin adaptation was pretty weak).
About 15 years ago, I was writing for an anime magazine and I was given an opportunity to interview Hayao Miyazaki at the Toronto Film Festival (while he was promoting Princess Mononoke). I went to the interview, watched him being interviewed by Roger Ebert in the hotel room, only to find out that they had cancelled my interview and neglected to inform me. So I never had my chance to ask him anything.
If you ever have the chance to go to Japan, you have to go to the Ghibli Museum outside of Tokyo -- it's amazing.

Welcome! It's been a long time since I read any Elseworlds stuff so I cannot recommend anything. I have quite a few Elseworlds issues. I think I bought the entire run of the Elseworlds annuals.
I think it would be cool for Elseworlds to come back someday... except nowadays they would have to write stories about what could have been if they hadn't futzed up the DCU with Flashpoint (AKA Flushpoint)
Love Elseworlds, I have a couple of those annuals (don't remember which ones though). Do you remember which ones they were Ox? I missed the whole Flashpoint thing...The movie was O.k. Lol |

Some more of my collection, I think most people will have these but there are a couple that they are not as popular.
LEXX 1-4, 1997 - 2002. One of the best Sci-Fi shows out there! Very odd, Dark & Cruel. (Not for kids Lol). Brilliant, Although it did start to lack towards the end. It would take a month of Sundays to explain what this is about. It also stars the stunning Xenia Seeberg.
Babylon 5 1-5, 1994 - 98. My most recent addition to my collection, Not easy to find in Australia (was common years ago) Although not in a huge box like this one. Has everything, All the movie's & the underrated Crusade series. Only saw the odd episode in the day, I have many many hours of catching up on 90's T.V. goodness.
Black Adder 1-4, 1983 - 89. Your either a fan or not & well i love it. How does one sum up the words to explain this series...I can't, But the "Wise Woman" might know!
X-Files 1-10, 1993 - 2002. I still think this was the best T.V. series ever, Although not my personal favorite it is in my top 3. This set is like a huge book with oversize thick pages that has the disks in the sides. Includes the 2 movie's. Oh! by the way...This set weights a friggin' ton.
Most Haunted early 1 - 7 series (still going i think) 2002 - Current. Whether you believe or not this was an entertaining series. The crew visited some beautiful places.

Hey all. New to the site. Checked the DC forum, saw two threads. Figured I would chime in, see if anyone wants to chatter back.
I've liked comics pretty much as long as I have been able to read (Superman was awesome when I was like 5). I still have some in my collection that I picked up when I was 10 or 11 or so. Some I've purchased recently were ones I read when I was younger, but never managed to pick up. I'm pretty casual, and tend to get things that just strike my fancy in one way or another.
I've been digging on the Elseworlds stuff lately. I know not all of it is considered good. What I have read so far is generally interesting. Neat to see a character that you are familiar with, and enjoy take on a slightly different form, and context. Recent reads and acquisitions include: Batman: Gotham By Gaslight Batman: Master of the Future Superman: Red Son Superman: Speeding Bullets Batman: I, Joker Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham Batman: Holy Terror Batman: Year 100 Batman: Castle of the Bat
Yes. I like Batman. Lol. I like Superman well enough too. The Dark Knight Returns is probably one of my favorite all time Bats stories. My sister got that for me ages ago as a birthday gift (currently boxed up, because of anticipated move in the near future). I want to grab a copy of Kingdom Come. Also interested in Batman: Vampire (the collected volume), Batman: Nosferatu, Batman: Gotham Noir. Thrillkiller, and possibly Two Faces. I missed a lot of these as they were coming out, they seem creative, and not terribly difficult to acquire in terms of "completing" a collection. Interested in also reading The Nail, and Golden Age.
Anyone else dig these? Recommendations? Avoids?
I had Holy Terror & i sure i've got Speeding Bullets somewhere I should have more of them but i too missed out on alot during my close to a decade hiatus. You've given me a another reason now to collect some more. Thanks for the inspiration shoggoth
By the way how was Red Son (looked it up), Sounds like a crazy read indeed!
Anyhoo! Here's a couple more... The Batman of Arkham. Batman: League of Batman 1 & 2. JLA: Riddle of the Beast. edited by Gilgandra on 2/5/2016 |

Nice TV collection, Gil! The only one that I've seen out of those is Black Adder (I'm not really a TV person so I haven't seen much), but some of those sounds pretty interesting like Lexx. Those huge sets for Babylon and The X Files look awesome too!
Thanks Kairi I'll let you look up LEXX yourself because i simply don't have the time & effort to explain it... But it does have 2 universe's (light & dark), Love slaves (it's not what you think), 1000 year old assassins, The most powerful Space-ship ever built, (That's the LEXX). Evil empire's. Lastly a budget of $100 per episode Lol & you have LEXX. edited by Gilgandra on 4/27/2018 |
