I thought i'd show some of my movie/TV collection that i have recently bought...Enjoy!

The Robocop movies are self explanatory but has anyone heard of the Robocop TV series that came out in 1994. Very 80's & one hell of a satisfactory series. If your a fan go & track it down. Thumbs Up

Most of you good people will have heard of Studio Ghibli. If you haven't then please crawl out of the proverbial shadow your in
Must admit, Only just seen My Neighbor Totoro well what a heart warming film. Arrietty is most brilliant in every way, You'll love it.

Here is something that was not shown in the States or Canada (that i'm aware of) Monkey or Magic Monkey.
Tells the Chinese 16th century story the (Journey to the West) 1978-80. Made by the Japanese (Filmed in China/Mongolia) who featured a girl (Masako Natsume) as the boy priest, Unfortunately she died of acute leukemia at age 27 in 1985.

My favorite TV show as a kid, I'd run...Yes! Run home from school to see it in the early 80's.
So many quotes, Best show ever Boogy Dance

Last but not least is Adventure Time Complete series 1-6. I'm a huge fan of the series, Quite dark in areas & funny. Or just plain madness Lol. Oh! yes...BMO is insane Duhh

Hooray for Studio Ghibli! Big Grin I absolutely love My Neighbor Totoro; it's such a great movie. Totoro is so adorable too! I haven't had a chance to see Arrietty yet, but I heard that one was supposed to be good! I will have to see if I can see that soon!

I haven't heard of Monkey before, but that sounds interesting. I'll have to check that out if I can although I'm not sure if I'll be able to find that here.

Thanks for sharing! smile

Ah, Robocop tv series. I don't remember much plot wise but I know I liked watching the tv series. Too bad it was only for one season.

Studio Ghibli makes some great anime films. Haven't seen My Neighbor Totoro though. Seen Howl's Moving Castle, Ponyo, Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke.

Also a fan of Adventure Time. Also like Regular Show.

Arrietty is a anime take on The Borrowers. It is good!
Monkey as i said was never shown in the states. It can be bought from the UK or here in Australia. Some nostalgic marshal arts fight scenes. Dubbed out in English with much humor & the acting for it's time was brilliant.
They are all gods that were kicked out of heaven for various reasons & left to roam earth, One as a Pig god & a Fish god. Monkey was always King Monkey who self proclaimed himself to be a "great sage, equal of heaven". As a laugh the gods gave him the most important job of looking after the "Garden of immortality" were Monkey got hungry & ate all the peaches that take a 1000 yrs to ripen.
He becomes immortal, all wise & powerful, As punishment Buddha encased him in rock as heavy as a mountain for 500 yrs with a special note (spell) that won't let him lift it. Until a kindly priest came along who hired his services to take him from China to India.
Thus it all begins...

How good is Howls moving Castle Billy Crystal as Calcifer is awesome.
Totoro is magical. Can't believe it came out in 1988 same year as Akira & Grave of the Firefly's.

I liked the crazy future (ultra Violent) adds & the news on the Robocop TV series.

Arrietty sounds good by what I've heard of it! I'm currently trying to watch all of Studio Ghibli's films, and that one is near the top of my "to watch" list! smile
Monkey definitely sounds intriguing to me and I'd like to see it if I can. I likely won't be able to find it here, but I'll be on the lookout for it just in case I actually can find it since there are a couple video stores and import shops that may have it. Hopefully I will get lucky!

Monkey looks interesting. Have never heard of it before.

Aaahh.. it's a Japanese production. I just checked it out on Amazon. I was a huge fan of the Water Margin when it was originally shown on UK TV back in the 70's, so maybe this will be for me. smile

I heard it's really sad! upset I normally don't get emotional during movies, so I'll have to see how I end up handling that one.
Hm...seems like I should try to watch Arrietty and Grave of the Fireflies around the same time if I can. I could watch Grave of the Fireflies first, and then I could watch Arrietty afterwards to have something to cheer me up from the other movie! I really like movies that have good music too, so I'm looking forward to hearing the music from Arrietty! Big Grin

I'm definitely going to have to have a movie day soon and watch them! I will definitely let you know when I watch them! I checked what Studio Ghibli films the closest library had, and it has Arrietty! Big Grin Unfortunately the library doesn't have Grave of the Fireflies, so I have to keep searching for that one.

Thanks for sharing the song! smile I really like listening to that; it sounds so beautiful! I really want to hear the rest of the music from the movie after hearing how excellent that opening song is!

I'm a big Studio Ghibli fan ever since I caught the massively butchered Warriors of the Wind (Nausicaa) on pay TV in the 80s. Even their worst films are still pretty good (the Ursula le Guin adaptation was pretty weak).

About 15 years ago, I was writing for an anime magazine and I was given an opportunity to interview Hayao Miyazaki at the Toronto Film Festival (while he was promoting Princess Mononoke). I went to the interview, watched him being interviewed by Roger Ebert in the hotel room, only to find out that they had cancelled my interview and neglected to inform me. So I never had my chance to ask him anything.

If you ever have the chance to go to Japan, you have to go to the Ghibli Museum outside of Tokyo -- it's amazing.

Gil, you ever seen Last Exile? Highly recommended. It is one of my favorite series. The DVDs are cheap now compared to when it was first released on DVD and getting the complete series as a set can be had.

Some more of my collection, I think most people will have these but there are a couple that they are not as popular.

LEXX 1-4, 1997 - 2002. One of the best Sci-Fi shows out there! Very odd, Dark & Cruel. (Not for kids Lol).
Brilliant, Although it did start to lack towards the end. It would take a month of Sundays to explain what this is about. It also stars the stunning Xenia Seeberg.

Babylon 5 1-5, 1994 - 98.
My most recent addition to my collection, Not easy to find in Australia (was common years ago) Although not in a huge box like this one. Has everything, All the movie's & the underrated Crusade series.
Only saw the odd episode in the day, I have many many hours of catching up on 90's T.V. goodness.

Black Adder 1-4, 1983 - 89.
Your either a fan or not & well i love it. How does one sum up the words to explain this series...I can't, But the "Wise Woman" might know!

X-Files 1-10, 1993 - 2002. I still think this was the best T.V. series ever, Although not my personal favorite it is in my top 3.
This set is like a huge book with oversize thick pages that has the disks in the sides. Includes the 2 movie's.
Oh! by the way...This set weights a friggin' ton.

Most Haunted early 1 - 7 series (still going i think) 2002 - Current.
Whether you believe or not this was an entertaining series. The crew visited some beautiful places.

Very interesting story! That is awesome that you were given the chance to meet him and interview him, but I'm really sorry to hear that they cancelled it like that and that you never had the opportunity to do it! That's truly a shame! upset

I've heard wonderful things about that Ghibli Museum! A friend of mine went there a year or two ago and had a lot of positive things to say about it, and he took some nice pictures of some of the things too! If I ever go to Japan, that is definitely something that I want to visit!

Nice TV collection, Gil! The only one that I've seen out of those is Black Adder (I'm not really a TV person so I haven't seen much), but some of those sounds pretty interesting like Lexx. Those huge sets for Babylon and The X Files look awesome too!

Thanks Kairi smile
I'll let you look up LEXX yourself because i simply don't have the time & effort to explain it... But it does have 2 universe's (light & dark), Love slaves (it's not what you think), 1000 year old assassins, The most powerful Space-ship ever built, (That's the LEXX). Evil empire's. Lastly a budget of $100 per episode Lol & you have LEXX.
