I will be reaching out to all applicants this week to begin structuring our team and making a path forward.

I think of this as the Christmas equivalent of Scrooge raising rents on drafty houses with no capital improvement. To use a second allegory, the comic publishers have been relocated to "Pottersville".

No Staples

I have never heard of a comic coming from the publisher without staples. I am not sure they would let that defect slide. Back in the 1960's and 1970's is comics were published with staples slightly off from correct location (associated with printing offset - off center). Do you have a picture you can share? Issue number and publisher?

Spider-Girl: A Fresh Start

I cannot locate it by this title either. Many times the text on the cover is not the official title of the comic book. For example this one http://comicspriceguide.com/collection/marvel/marvel-age-spider-girl/1/rlvvlx
It says "Spider-Girl Legacy" on the cover, but Legacy is not part of the comic title, it is just the story line.
What does the publication/copyright text say the official title is (the indica) ? See CPG info on this if not up on it. |

Grading does take some time and effort. If you have a local comic store you might discuss with them, You can see what they grade their comics at. Likely they have been at it for a long time.
As a quick computer check - You can check my home sale page here http://comicspriceguide.com/cpg-member/kdscomics . I have scans of my top comics from 4.5 to 9.8.
Also there is a grade guide website here with examples. https://www.nostomania.com/servlets/com.nostomania.CatPage?name=ComicsGradingMain
Plenty more on the web,
The web is a great check to get guidelines. However, I really suggest looking at the comic in person - pictures can mask flaws or exaggerate minor cover wear.

Question about quantity option
kds_comics

netstuffers wrote:
We opted to remove the quantity option because most members track all details of each individual issue. For example, you may own 5 copies of Chew #1, but one is a 9.4, one is a 9.2, a 5.0, etc.
This is also important for sales listings because you can have users make offers on each individual copy of your book and they get exactly what the listing says, but if they buy one of 30, the condition is unlikely to have been properly tracked.
We can add quantity back if members think it's useful to do both methods.
This is what happens to me - if I get two issues they are seldom at the same grade. Just FYI |

What company to use for grading comics

Can anyone estimate how much it costs to get comics graded? I heard at one local comic store that it was $25 - $30 PER COMIC. Some of them might be worth that much, but most look like they are only worth $2 - 5 - 10 - 15 each. I want to sell ALL of them.
Thanks!
ID2001
Yes, you really want to be selective in which comic you grade. Check the CPG Guide.
I have Walt Disney Comics and Stories #81 from about 1949 on 5.0 condition. Although CPG says it is worth $80 - grading does not add any value. It is just not a high enough grade to be encapsulated.
What is worth getting grades - desirable super hero comic (e.g early Amazing Spider-Man), a high dollar variant, or a high grade older comic. Pick and choose - getting comics graded is an expensive proposition.

Great to hear about the revamp. My three cents worth 1) Several folks have mentioned they would like to export all inventory to one file. That would be near top of list. 2) An Import feature would be most useful as well - then I could add my stuff in spreadsheet and just import. An alternative would be to add in batches of one title rather that one at a time. I think that feature was available at one time. 3) When I add pictures in the forum I need to post on another website like photo bucket and link them. Any through to being able to cut and paste picture in forum. I know this requires more memory space for you, but the slow load kills my forum to add cover scans. 4) Please - the forums need option to display the last post at top of page. I'm a busy guy, time to page through forum threads just takes too long.
Thanks - looking forward to update.

I think the signature would be worth more than the comic. You might try signature collection sites. I personally would have no idea. |

Iron Man cover that doesn't exist

Back in the 1980's comic shipped with bar code. Spider-Man (or other character face) or blank "white" space in box that would normally have bar code. There is no difference in value. This difference was direct to consumer marker versus wholesale to comic shop. See explanation here. (and lots of other places ) http://scifi.stackexchange.com/questions/20314/what-does-the-spider-man-symbol-on-1980s-comic-covers-mean
Unless yours is a special issue from that retailer, I would think it would have no additional value.
The signature add value - but that is subjective - a guide won't help you much here.

http://comicspriceguide.com/my-collection/controls/#
Which displays the following:
Sorry, you have found a page that does not exist. Please return to the homepage or help us out and Report how you got here.
When I click on the "report how you got here" link it just takes me to the "about us" page.
navigating the "guide part of the site has always had a few bugs and glitches but I guess my main point is that this site is supposed to be a price guide first and foremost (at least given it's name) shouldn't the guide be the best part?
I hope I don't come off as too condescending here but that's just my opinion.
This happens to me as well. Often. Like the java script gets a bad re-direction or something (wild guess here). |

Thanks for the link. They do list, but do not give values besides what they are selling. The regular Heavy Metals, along with some special editions, are listed on this site. I just could not find anything with Heavy Metal Presents... Strange, but I guess these may be considered outside the comic range. Just thought that since they had the regulars, they would have these. My comic shop only list prices of an actual comic for sale - if no one is selling, there is no price. You might check back. May be other similar sites. |

Ability to export "My Comic Collection"?

Hi! This very helpful! Particularly for users who want an organized, printable list. This great for simple bookkeeping, however if you need your data set up in a format ready for analysis, obviously, this website (which is great!) would need to: (1) Create a differently formatted spreadsheet export (which is difficult or tedious to program if your programming platform is table-based (SQL, Tableau, for example); (2) Each user may want a different export. This can get frustrating is users are picky, and do not understand that websites which are basically online ("back end") databases, in which users can choose variables, execute queries, etc. This website is not built that way.
What I propose: I can create a template FOR PROGRAMMERS (programmers on this type of platform will be able to understand what I mean) to utilize IF you would like to build out an export specifically for analysis and more book keeping. I understand that this poses challenges, as another "export" button may be needed (meaning: updating A LOT of code on the front end).
However, if you are interested in the basic structure and metrics needed to create an export with more practical utility (if you like to work with print outs just know that .csv files can save you quite a bit of time.)
Personally, I have created a macro in excel to recreate the export so that it formats in a way that is more useful for analysis and book keeping.
I can share the macro, but I can't de-bug for everyone. So I'll share the macro, but consider the basic template that I proposed earlier.
Peace & Love!
BL My unsolicited suggestion is that if you want to write SQL programming for data export you volunteer to assist admins here. I'd like mine in a common format. If the export was in "comma delimted text" or something - I could import to excel or access or SQL database. May be confusing to the average user, but might be a more practical suggestion that special programming stuff. Only my opinion. Not that anyone listens... KDS |

I don't have very high-grade Gold or Keys (No 8.5 FF #1). Those are pretty low-to-mid-grade, but some of my stuff's kind of unique. I collect quite a bit of odd-ball stuff - outside of the standard DC and Marvel.
This is one of my favorites in my collection. Again, low-grade. But not something everyone's seen. Spirit #1 (March 1952).

Hello,
I have a few issues of a series called Death's head, & a few issues of a series called Dragon's Claws. Both series are published by Marvel, a search on your Website brings up Revolutionary War: Death's Head II - a search for Dragon's Claws brings up no results whatsoever. How would I go about finding these issues to your database, or adding them?
Death's Head was originally a comic from England (UK). Just search "Death Head" under "all countries" . Don't use the apostrophe - that might also be a problem. Less is more. Dragon Claw is also a UK comic. http://comicspriceguide.com/titles/dragons-claws-marvel-uk/slyp
I'd make a joke about UK art style, but I will eave that to you. Enjoy.
