So What Pulled You Back Into Collecting?
Defiant1
|
I couldn't afford to date and buy comics, plus I was unhappy with the stuff being released in about 1983 so I quit collecting. Assistant Editors month annoyed me every year.
I got back into collecting when I was unemployed. I pulled my old stuff out of storage and that gave me the bug to acquire back issues. I started trading duplicates at first. Valiant got me hooked up until 1992. I've been collecting ever since.
I buy very little new stuff now, but I still look for certain back issues. |

CGC or CBCS for grading?

I will never use CGC again. I used them once. I will use CBCS if I ever get a comic graded again. I've seen much worse looking comics get much higher grades than my submissions, so I place no value on CGC grading. |

ASM 10 (1963) variant cover?
Defiant1

The comic art shown as an alternate was the original artwork that got rejected for publication. They went with the artwork we all know about.
To my knowledge, they never printed this cover on an actual comic book. If they did, it was many years later as a reprint.
Sometimes foreign editions published the original versions of covers. I'm not sure if it was by mistake or due to timing issues with the production schedule. |

I didn't really like it. I felt like I was watching another Iron Man movie with less interesting characters. The friend was annoying. |

The artwork has been spotlighted before as the first draft of the cover. I don't think he has a comic with this cover. I think he wants one. |

That's the area where my mom grew up, but it's still too far for me. I hate driving. Maybe if there was some bigger names on the guest list. |

I have these 7-11 mini comics, so they don't fit the description.

This is a complete set of Bubble Funnies. They are not 7-11 exclusives. They could be bought at grocery stores or other retail outlets.

It has Doctor Mirage as Dr. Mirage.
Does it bother anyone else?
It should correspond to the exact text written in the indicia which is normally at the bottom of the first page. Sometimes they hide it elsewhere. If the listing does not match the indicia, it bothers me. |

Autographed comic

Autographs make a comic less desirable for me. I don't even like the signature series slabbed comics. If I was a signature collector, I would not pay extra for the comic it's on. Perhaps if the creator's signature was rare to find unto itself, I might consider the comic to be worth more. |

Did Seth MacFarlane pull a fast one?
Defiant1

Can't answer your question.
I've heard people say they like it, but I saw an episode last night and thought it was lousy. Cheap visuals in most scenes. Lame writing. Nothing about the guy makes me laugh. The only thing that is associate with his name that makes me laugh is stuff that he ripped off from Simpsons or other shows. I can watch Family guy and get flat out bored. Give me something from Mike Judge any day of the week and I'll watch it over anything Mr. Woodbury MacFarlane has done. edited by Defiant1 on 10/6/2017 |
