WHATS GOING ON WITH INCORRECT PRICING!?

We are constantly updating prices for the site, currently, about 150 books are on the recent value changes. https://comicspriceguide.com/value-changes/ Ask anyone, I will research any book that you think is off (too high or too low). We take that part of our job very seriously.

We looked at one of our competitors yesterday who had a key silver age book at $72,000 raw. We have the book listed at $40,000 graded. That's a huge difference. Based on the market, they are taking some heavy drugs or inflating prices to attract dreamers. There is no external data to support that number.

Agree you should check recent value changes periodlicly.

Also - (sorry CPG - don't look). ALWAYS check more than one guide / sales sites.
I like MyComicShop.com and Comic Book Realms. (guide)

As Ron noted - different sites use different data. My Comic Shop is retail sales "offer" not a guide, but prices can be significantly higher or lower due to consignments, etc.
Hey - on a $4 comic - $2 is statistically significant - regardless of condition.

I find CPG is VERY CONSERVATIVE. - my opinion is...that is a good thing - but it is possible you can ask more and get it.

Good luck -

Conflicting Publish Dates - Which to use?

I am pretty sure we have had this discussion but which should be used for the publish dates? I am validating the publish date for GHOST RIDER: TRAIL OF TEARS #1 (https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/ghost-rider-trail-of-tears/1/tiwumw). User Black Dragon Comics listed the publish date as April 2007 which is validated by the Marvel Wikia (http://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Ghost_Rider:_Trail_of_Tears_Vol_1_1) but conflicted by the Marvel website (https://www.marvel.com/comics/issue/5944/ghost_rider_trail_of_tears_2007_1) which claims the publish date as Feb. 2007.

Which is to be used in this case (IMO Marvel website)?

Agree with Sol. Read the date in the comic! Easy Piezie!

Yes I have seen some folks cutting price and selling on eBay. Or selling as a bundle of variant covers. Others have higher price on eBay and other places - unknown how many sell. Hard to get a handle on this - oh well - I will start a little high - perhaps I can push this back up. it can't be as bad as Action #1000 - could it???

To mix forum threads and confuse everyone - this guy has a signed copy of Biff Thundersaur you have been looking for. Although I am still trying to figure out what's with this "Biff" name. Best laugh I had today.

Is it just me or lately having had many offers on here and many sales done I have to ask this questions:

Sellers accept offers but never get back to you or send and payment info
Some sellers accept offers but never send any info over or an invoice then turn you over for not paying??
Sellers listing a book for one price then changing the deal after the offer was accepted or telling that person "I can't find that book" really?
Seller's putting individual books up for sale then they expect you to but the whole run..huh?? Then why are you listing INDIVIDUAL books?
If they have books that are raw 9.4 and it's going for $3 they list in raw as $5 or more???

Since when did any of us expect to get FULL value for ALL of out books so if my collection is worth let's say $1000 and it only has some key books but mostly $2-3 books then they should get the full market price for these books? What planet does this happen in?

I'm gotten plenty of books for lower than book value for COMMON books of course with high end books you might have to give but the lower ends common...

Wow - great rant. Very entertaining. On rare occasion I have sold a book and then not been able to find it - I'm a collector, not a retail store! I am sure others here have had similar experience.

I agree there perhaps needs to be a better way to coordinate selling and payment. Personally I have backed out of one deal because seller wanted way too much for shipping.

At my business - you cannot complain unless you suggest at least one solution to the problem. Suggested solutions:

1) Tie a UPC bar code to each product and offer printable labels with grade/price for collection. Bar code reader could be tied directly to CPG online or offline and upload/process later. (overnight when not so busy). This would provide better sales and better inventory management control. Perhaps a platinum membership for this additional service?

2) On no planet do you get full price except maybe for a rare or hot comic.

3) You can sell all your comics to me and then you will not have all this aggravation

Yeah - that's it - I like solution #3 the best. but that is just me.

First of all, I've bought several times from this site and been happy with the results. I had one time where someone never responded and that was frustrating.

We are currently working on a plan to evaluate sellers to help with these issues. They will be judged on responsiveness (automated through our system) and shipping and accuracy. If they don't get back to people their score will be lowered. After a few times of unresponsiveness, they will be removed from selling. If you're listing books to sell we want you to sell them. If you're listing books and then ignoring people, go somewhere else.

Overall, this is a complex issue because sometimes it's the seller who is unresponsive or dishonest and sometimes it's the buyer who is trying to scam or has unrealistic expectations. Our goal is to make a safe place where people can buy and sell with confidence.

Thanks Ronbatman I've had two sellers that accepted offers and there are in limbo as being accepted and I want to buy them another one said he doesn't come on here alot and gave me his e-mail address that got nowhere why post books if you don't want to sell is this is game to people? If so they really are pathetic

It does happen to me as well. If you sell on eBay it happens there too. Just my two cents...

Could be that Mcfarlene owns a part of Image, just like Larson owns part of it too. Savage Dragon is still out and never thought that was good.

That was a rhetorical question. We know why the publish Spawn and Savage Dragon. TO MAKE MONEY!!! There. I said it.

KDS Comics at Comic Price Guide: FOR SALE

kds_comics
kds_comics
Hello all - the inestimable KDS here. Or perhaps is is inscrutable? I forget.

I have updated my CPG comics display page here. https://comicspriceguide.com/members/kdscomics I have removed picture of my NFS (not for sale) items. I am concentrating on putting best items for sale in my display area. Generally these are $12 and up for top 48 comics in the display. My Superboy #73 and #75 and World's Finest #117 (Batwoman!) have sold recently - so pictures will be coming down soon.

I still have plenty more. A wide variety starting with Walt Disney Comics and Stories (some from 2940's!) , The Atom, Hawkman from the 1960;s, Batman #183 - just placed on the recent value change list at CPG - going up!!! Recently picked up Marvel Feature #11 - Hulk versus Thing (With special appearance by - The Leader!!!). Also Recently picked up Red Sonja #0F Sketch cover from 2005.

Remaining - Will Eisner's masterpiece - "A Life Force" about ordinary people in the 1930's making it through the depression. Simple but gripping. Best not to read more than a few pages a day - it is that powerful. Weird Western tales #12 (Actually the first issue - numbering continued from another title). Action, Aquaman, Werewolf by Nifght. Serveral more family friendly items like Superman's girl Friend Lois Lane #20 - is it a comic or a soap oprea? The answer is yes to both! Several very cute Sugar & Spike comics, Archie Annual # 15 - beautiful copy. Better than I have graded it. Should be about a 7.0. and my Little Pony #2K Dynamic Forces edition and Railroads Deliver the Goods comic from 1954.

Back to the cool stuff - Werewolf by Night # 5 - nice copy, Daredevil #100, Incredible Hulk #104, Thor #150, Wolverine The Origin #1, The Man from UNCLE #1 and Shi: The Way of the Warrior #1E signed by Bill Tucci.

That's all for now.

What Should I Have Jim Lee Sign?

kds_comics

Tough question. You can search CPG for every that has been catalogued that Jim Lee Worked on here

https://comicspriceguide.com/creators/jim-lee

There are other creator "work index" websites as well. I would take a look to match your collection to the list.

Looking through the CPG List - Batman 608 - 612 (Hush story) are not bad choices - especially if you have variants.

Captain America #383 is iconic. So is Jim's cover of Action #1000.

Many variants have good value - if that is what you are interested in. An example is Red Sonja (2005) #12 D,E,F, H
Jim did many under-valued and under-appreciated works - Like Wildstorm, Flash, Punisher, Quasar, Thundercats, Robotech,,, dang near every publisher...

Most are worth very little. So this makes it a difficult call. Unless you like a specific character.

A couple of comics stand out.

The obvious is Uncanny X-Men #248 - first Jim Lee on Uncanny X-Men
Another is Heroes 2001 - (Marvel's 9/11 tribute book). No money here - only emotional value.

spawn #1 print error

You do have to remember in the 1990's publishers printed a lot of comics. By "a lot" I mean that 1.7 million copies of Spawn #1 were printed.

That some may have have a sloppy printing job is not really surprising.

Spawn #1 was printed in a direct version - no UPC on the cover (no "box" ) and a retail version with the UPC code.

No price difference here.

The only verified error is where the printed missed printing the $1.95 price on the cover http://www.recalledcomics.com/Spawn1Error.php

Hope this helps.

Printing defects and affects on Grading

I recently purchased ASM #140 from Ebay. Upon receipt and close examination it appears the top staple was missing during printing. There are NO holes in the cover or any interior pages where the staple would normally be. The bottom staple is original and very tight at the centerfold. Does this affect grading? Would it vary by more than a point?

Thanks much,

My opinion is that it does not affect grading - it came from the publisher in this condition. It is a publisher defect. Maybe half a point less on grading if you are a stickler for this type of thing. I assume this is a "one off" defect (only this one). So not "record-able" as a defect for the publication run.

I do hope the eBay seller noted this anomaly - One reason I dislike eBay - some comic sellers do not take time to examine and fully grade the comics.

Just my opinion - generally I agree with Expander.
