Promises, Promises Stanley is a man out of time, but he doesn’t really care. He drives an ’59 Impala, smokes Lucky Strike and lives in an Airstream trailer. After using up all his “luck” by cheating people he decides to go a new direction. Betsy, his former lover, is calling in a favor so he heads back to Las Vegas. Stanley and Betsy talk about the problem with the main show that is keeping her casino going, Mercy’s Burlesque Act. Mercy is being tempted by Les to leave Betsy’s casino.
Mercy barges into Betsy’s office and demands to know why she added another show to her schedule. Her serious attitude is lightened up when she recognizes Stanley Dance. We find out that Stan hasn’t seen his son in 10 years and that he asks for money from Betsy. She gives him more than he asked for.
Stanley is being followed by Les as he goes into a Psychic reading place. This place is owned by one of his old friends, Greg, so he asks if he can park his RV in the back parking lot.
Stanley makes another stop, this time at the casino of his friend and former manager, Sticky. Stanley describes what Les is trying to do to Betsy and his less than detailed plan for saving her casino. The biggest part of his plan is to enter the boxing ring again at age 53. Stanley was run out of town by Les years ago. While spying out his next match, Stanley sees his son, Lucy. Yes, Lucy. He son floors him with a left hook but he just smiles.
