 The Girl From Superman's Past
Lana Lang has come to Metropolis to visit Clark Kent, visiting him at the Daily Planet irks Lois Lane the wrong way due to Lana's outgoing behavior. Clark begins to sweat a bit when Lana wonders aloud how it's such a coincidence that both Superboy and Clark Kent left Smallville to take up shop in Metropolis at the same time, before she and Lois go to lunch.

During their meal, the gossiping girls get into an argument over whom Superman likes better, and the two decide to find out the truth. When Superman shows up later, the two of them vie for his attention in various manners and try to get him to disclose which of the two women he cares for most.

When all else fails, the two girls decide to put their lives at risk to see who Superman saves first, Lana putting herself in an out of control airplane and Lois in the path of a steamroller. Superman happens by and smashes a meteor that is coincidentally entering the atmosphere near the women. The meteor fragments take out the steamroller, and the force of the impact rights Lana's plane, leaving both women to continue to wonder how the Man of Steel feels about them.
 The New Lois Lane
When Lois Lane asks Superman to the Daily Planet Dance, he declines because he has an important mission to go on. Believing that she may have put on weight, she decides to weigh herself on a weight-and-fortune machine. Her fortune tells her that to win the man she loves, she must change her strategy. Taking this advice to heart, Lois decides to stop trying to learn Superman's secret identity and actually cover for him when he slips up and leaves evidence that might expose him.

This unfortunately happens at a time when Superman has taken up an alter ego of Allen Todd, a Novelty Salesman, and hopes on Lois revealing this "secret identity" because a group of three men suspect that Clark Kent is Superman and he wishes to throw them off the trail. Try as he might, by leaving false evidence around, Superman cannot get Lois to expose his secret identity, even when he visits her as Allen Todd and purposely tries to reveal himself. Later as Superman, Lois tells him that she's decided to stop trying to expose his secret identity.

With all else failing, Superman decides to send Lois a letter supposedly from an old man on his deathbed who knows Superman's identity, and a note to the crooks telling them that Lois has the secret to Superman's identity. When the men force Lois to the address on the note, they find Alan Todd there and shoot him. When they find that he's invulnerable, "Todd" reveals himself to be Superman, who destroys his Todd identity and tells all gathered that he is going to establish a new secret identity, preserving his Clark Kent persona. The next day at the Daily Planet as Clark Kent, Superman learns that Lois is going back to her old ways, excited about the prospect of learning what Superman's "new" identity is.
 Mrs. Superman
At the Daily Planet, Lois asks Clark if he'd like to join her at the beach, Clark declines and when he suspects that Lois is becoming wise to his secret identity he puts on a false bout of weakness trying to move a desk with Jimmy. Later, at the beach, Lois suffers a blow to the head and is knocked unconscious, and is brought to the hospital by Superman. In a coma and talking in her sleep, Lois has established an ideal dream world where she is married to Superman and has a child with him. The doctors inform Superman that unless she becomes unhappy with her dream, she will not snap out of her coma.

Using suggestions to steer Lois's dream and make her unhappy, Superman tries posing every possible idea to try and make her unhappy enough to wake up: From playing on Lois's dislike of Clark Kent, to the idea of a temperamental baby with super-powers, dealing with all the housework but nothing works. That is until Superman plays on Lois's jealousy, getting her to react to what it would be like to see Superman rescue some other girl. What finally snaps Lois out of it is when the dream Superman calls her "Lulu" instead of Lois.

When Lois wakes up, she tells Superman all about her dream and about how ridiculous a notion it was to think that Clark Kent was Superman.
