After Barda’s major statement in issue #5, that she is unwilling for her husband to die, everything has changed. Barda and Scott destroy the evidence from the guard killing in their “flamer”. They decide to go to New Genesis and talk with Orion who has become the new Highfather. Just before they leave for New Genesis Barda brings up remodeling their condo. This conversation will continue through the entire book while the action is unrelated.

They kill two guards on New Genesis while talking about the kitchen remodel. They talk about smaller closet as the negotiate their way through a laser field of destruction. Oberon’s stuff is discussed as they go through a shaft that contains acid gas. No discussion happens while they are fighting a Tidedragon underwater, which makes sense.

They engage in a couple’s spat about who said what while they eliminate two more guards. They remove the intestines from the Tidedragon and throw it across the Forever void while Scott remembers his tortured past. As they maneuver their way across the intestine’s tight rope, Barda describes that she never knew love as a child.

Mr. Miracle and Big Barda enter a room that shrinks while they discuss adding another bedroom. When they are in the middle of a fight with Lightray, Barda announces that she is pregnant. After Lightray is knocked out, Scott hugs her and says, “I love you.” Barda doesn’t respond in kind, only that she believes him. (Which is a positive step for her.)

Just before they enter the throne room to see Orion they decide to talk to him first, to reason with him. When Scott goes in he finds Orion dead on the floor. Scott screams, “What did you do?”. Darkseid answers, “Darkseid does not do.” Darkseid is. Barda walks in when she hears the Boom of Darkseid leaving.
