The easiest way to find Sub-Mariners for sale is to go to the title
https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/sub-mariner/rnrv

Then click on the "for sale" tab under the title. You'll see that gold members are selling most issues of that title.

The only Golden Age or Silver Age books that I would worry about being in the wrong bag/mylar are the giant size issue or 80-page giants. I keep silver age books in silver age bags except for issues with more pages. You could make the argument that bags that are too big could create damage by allowing the comic to move too much.

There are several versions of that book, the direct version, newsstand version and then the variants. I'm not sure which version you have because the newsstand isn't the common one. The common one routinely sells for $1 or $2 ungraded.

PS - I moved this thread to the correct place.

I took the hyphen out of the three titles that used it since that's not a common spelling to use a hyphen on teenage

We have been reluctant to add these kinds of magazines into the system because they weren't technically comics. However, they do contain quite a bit of comic content. We talked about it in our offices and decided to add it. We believe that a lot of our members have these books and will be happy that we've included them. Ultimately we would rather make you guys happy than to be technically correct. Don't ask for 14 other titles now. smile

Dylman,
We talked about this and he is working on setting a date when misses are removed. The plan is to have misses drop off the list every 30 days.

Don't post the scans here, they will be lost very quickly. If you have several of them submit them via the system. Look up an issue number and then submit a new scan. Let me know and I will go in and approve them.

This change is going to take a long time to implement because it moves so many issues and requires research.

We are basing our data on where the book is sold. So if a book was printed in the US and shipped to the British market with Pence on the cover. It will be listed as a British book. The same applies to books printed in Canada but sold in the US. That would be a US book. Canadian price variants will now be listed under the Canadian title.

Direct Vs. Newsstand

In the database, we have been adding both versions to the site. So if you submit either as a variant with a good cover scan we will approve it. Submissions with no scans or bad scans will be deleted since they don't help accomplish the goal.

There are some weird things with Direct Edition and the Newsstand Edition.

In 1979, the direct edition was the more rare book. In that time period, direct edition was the variant. We often see these selling for the same price as newsstand issues. As knowledge gets out, these issues will become more desirable and thus worth more. (Based on what has happened to some of the later newsstand issues)

Around 1986, the number of both versions was about the same. The prices for both versions are about the same and should stay that way.

By 1990, the newsstand edition was the more rare book, especially in the higher grades. People have already figured this one out and seek those high-grade copies. It's not just newsstand issues that you should look for, it is late, high-grade Newsstand issues.

From a database perspective, our first goal is to get them into the system. Secondly, we want to work on organizing them in a way that shows the change in production numbers.

This will cause backlogs in the variant approval process as we work through thousands and thousands of books. Please be patient and remember that we are doing the best we can to satisfy as many people as possible. We've added 3550 comics per month to the site for the last 2 years. That's a lot of books especially when you consider that a Gold yearly member pays us about $1/week. So many people pay nothing for all this work.

Work with us and we will continue to be the #1 Comic Book Price Guide on the Planet.

Excellent questions

So your first question is related to the publisher being British but making books for the American market. We need to discuss this but my immediate response would be "yes" since it follows our guidelines.

We are in the process of adding pounds and other units of measure to the site based on the country. You are seeing the first stages of that change.

The books that you mentioned have been looked at and adjusted based on recent sales. Thanks for the heads up about these books.

We are working on a program that will allow gold members to submit recent sales on books.

We don't have the ability to change the code for the forum since it's a packaged purchase. You can change the profile picture in the main site and that will show the same image in the forum. That link will never work since the forum is no longer supported by the company that made it. I guess most forums are becoming a thing of the past. We've talked about ending our forum as well.

Deleting old messages, we are looking at that now.

Humidity and Rippled pages and effecting price

It's impossible to grade something with a generic description but in general, that would definitely lower the grade and value. Water damage (even with humidity) is a big deal.

If the book is a high dollar book, I'd suggest having someone press it. There is a cost associated with pressing but a skilled presser can fix some water damage. As long as it's a wavy or rippled texture and not stained with water.

New Update to the App Coming

Ronbatman

Any of you who follow ComicsPriceGuide know that we are in this for the long term. Part of that involves, improving our current offering and adding additional features and sites. You can look down the CPG Announcement page and see some of the improvements we've made.

We want to improve the app and hopefully get more 5 star reviews. Here are our initial plans

1. Add a Barcode scanner
2. Improve the search function
3. Add better functionality to the login, like a password reset
4. Push notifications about value changes (1 per week so that it doesn't overwhelm users with too many notifications)

These were the primary complaints about our app, so we want to add these features/functions. This will cost us money and time so I'd like to ask for a minor and easy favor.

If you use and love our app, please leave a 5-star review for us. That's it.

If you hate our app, please contact me and let's talk.

That's actually really interesting.

Daredevil #79 was released on March 1972

One site says Fantastic Four #10 but it doesn't show his face.
Then Amazing Spider-man annual #1 (1964)
Then Fantastic Four Annual #3 (1965)
Then Fantastic Four Annual #5 (1967)
At the fifth spot, Daredevil #79 (1972)

Comic issues still missing prices

Allow me to explain some things behind the scenes. When we get a large backlog of variants (like right now) some admins will approve things to get them into the system without pricing. This allows you to enter them in your collection and file them away. It allows us to quickly move through the tremendous number of submissions that we receive.

Then at a later date, we can go back and do the necessary research to gather the pricing. Some books sell so infrequently that we cannot gather good data and those will remain at zero. Other books have sales history but we don't have the time to research them.

We are currently working on a way for members to submit links to us for research. The system is built but needs to be tested. We are working through this to the best of our abilities.

How would you like the search to be different? Different people have different ideas about what makes a search good.

Thanks so much!

Does anyone else experience comic book covers randomly not showing up in the app?

Does it say "missing scan" or is it just blank?
Can you give a specific example? That would help us figure out whether the issue is on our side or on your side.

Thanks,
Ron
