What happened to the old forums?

Didn't see any links for this on the profile page... So there's no 'forum settings' page yet? Will there be? Like for time zone, blocking users/messages, even getting private messages, format/theme etc.? No big deal, just wondering.

Also you should maybe list some more things in the 1st post that have changed, or are not offered yet but will be etc.. I see we can now log in with our 'usual' CPG login vs having a separate forum login. That's kinda buried in the 1st post.

I did finally find that clicking on a member's name and getting to their actual profile page you can message them thru the 'Message Me' link over on the right, but will there be icons for that ON the forum posts again? Not that I hardly ever use it, but handy when needed.

Thanks, glad you got the forums back up. No announcement on the home page though? Nothing under Latest News and Notes (I see it under Latest Forums posts sorta, but should be a message at the top of the page), blog link doesn't work, nothing on the 404 pages for the old forum URLs to note there's a new forum? Have fun...

Thanks netstuffers. I don't go to the home page much, and I know now why I didn't see the 'announcement', as it was blocked in that marquee thing by an add-on. So saw it now after temporarily disabling the add-on.

I still don't find any 'extra' forum settings anywhere. Have clicked on 'Manage Account' when logged in, and my user name in my post, and 'my profile' and don't get but the very basic stuff. There's an 'edit' gif on the 'user name' page, but it goes to a blank page, even with the add-on disabled. http://comicspriceguide.com/forum/editprofile.aspx

May be something in Firefox blocking it? Logged in with IE11 too, and still nothing happens clicking on that 'edit' button except a blank page. Not sure what's supposed to open or show when that's clicked--a new page, or some drop down with fields to edit or what.

Tried logging in with my old forum password just in case, and it wouldn't work, as expected.

Also am supposedly subscribed to this thread to be notified on replies (it's on the list in 'my subscriptions'), and didn't get one when you did your post, or rowden's. No messages in My Messages under my regular CPG account either. So don't know if that feature is working.

Have fun...

Start trek

I think this is it, and it's from 1994, not 1984, so that makes a big difference. For some reason when I searched the CPG price guide for Star Trek Special it doesn't come up, but searching on just Star Trek and scrolling down, there it is, listed as Star Trek Special #1. Why doesn't the price guide search engine know this?:

The real title is DC Special Series, which they didn't put on the outside. Always check the inside indicia to be sure of the actual title if you can't find one under the title on the cover. These 2 are reprints. Regular comics of that period had 40 cent covers usually, so that was my clue to look it up on the Grand Comic Book Database (comics.org), which has a better search engine.

So it's issues #17 and #20, pictured below, right?:

Another mystery solved...

not to be too much of a stickler for rules, but this belongs in the General forum, as it's not about the database or missing issues, and more people who have one will see this in General and give you more selling info maybe. This IS a price guide site, so you can look up its opinion of the value, but take it with a box of salt, it could be way low or well higher than the real world.

Marvel Masterpieces & how to price them

Hi,
google is your friend smile. If you search 'non-sports trading card price guide' you'll get a bunch of matches, some are free sites, some you have to sign up for, some you have to pay to see the prices. Very likely none will be accurate to the real market.

https://nonsportrealm.com/ is one that has both a price guide and forums.

Non-Sport Update (now owned by Beckett) has a long time magazine and 'almanac' on their site you can buy, (not sure how up to date it is now) and a forum. http://www.nonsportupdate.com/

http://www.tradingcardcentral.com/ is one of the more active sites and forums too. plenty of others to choose from too. I've noticed recently just from random auction results that some Marvel Masterpiece boxes and full sets have been getting higher prices again, not sure why. you can check closed SOLD auctions on 'that' auction site and see if yours are in that group.

good luck!

Marvel Comics "Force Works" #169?

The actual title is Marvel Comics Presents, as written above Force Works. Always check the indicia inside if you can't find a book under what you think is the title.

That's the one, right?

Rock Fantasy comic

Hi,
it appears to be a mistake in the database, assuming mycomicshop's site is correct. I couldn't find this title at comics.org or comicbookdatabase.com for some reason, which is odd. Not even under Pink Floyd searches.

According to mycomicshop, the 1st print has no cover price, is dated Dec 89, and the cover is the one CPG has as the second print. 2nd print is dated 1990 on the cover, $3.00 on the cover, and with different art, so CPG is wrong.

Links to the pics at mycomicshop:

1st print image: https://d1466nnw0ex81e.cloudfront.net/n_iv/600/723139.jpg

2nd print image: https://d1466nnw0ex81e.cloudfront.net/n_iv/600/725411.jpg

Hope that helps.

it's right where it should be, under Avengers Vol. 3 1997-2004, under the 'Annual' tab:

I own it too. You'd think the title would be Shiloh, but it isn't in the CPG database, and inside in the back (and on the cover) they call it The Heritage Collection #1, but it's not listed under that either. So another to add to the database. It is listed at comics.org under Shiloh, but they have no pic and basically no info. Decent comic about the Civil War Battle though.

It's right where it should be, under the Batman 2011-2016 series, when you get to issue 23, as #23J and K variants (3-D and 2-D)

well, technically the cover ART is correct, but CPG shows the .30 cent variant cover for both the 25 and 30 cent editions. So they need to change the pic for the regular .25 cent edition.

well, it's probably WAY too new to get in the CPG database yet. According to Previews' site, it just got to shops on July 19th. Don't think CPG is that fast yet....
