If you don't see your scan approved within a 2 week period it might have not been up to par, please review the items below and make sure the scan meets all requirements.
First off if you are new to scanning comics, take a moment to read a quick step by step to scanning I have here at my website. You can also see some examples of bad scans that will not make it into the database.

Covers must be:
  • 1. Cropped properly. No background showing.
  • 2. No digital camera pictures.
  • 3. No covers with URL, company watermarks or logos.
  • 4. No covers with scanline patterns will be accepted.
  • 5. No covers scans with the comic still in the bag and board.
  • 6. No grainy or blurry scans.
  • 7. Adult covers with nudity must be edited with black boxes.
The only exception to the above rules are Golden Age covers.
We are a little more flexible with these, due to the rarity of getting a cover scan.
If you are scanning in your own covers to upload I recommend a 200 to 300 DPI setting and then resizing the covers to a 350 x 535-pixel size before saving. This is a standard I have used for a few years that makes a good clear scan without being a huge filesize.
Thank you for helping to make CPG the best comic site on the net. smile

I followed the instructions as shown and scanned a cover at 150dpi, and compressed it down.

So why am I unable to upload a cover scan that is only 250kB?

What if I don't wish to take the comic book out of the plastic sleeve but can't find the right cover?

See the 7 steps above? If you don't wish to remove your book from the bag, you can't scan it for the site per the guidelines.

Assuming I get all the requirements correct...is there a way to upload the scans of my covers - which may not be as lovely as the pictures on CPG -- to give potential buyers a good look at what I'm selling (aside from any written descriptions)

Hey Katdancing,
After you've entered issues into your collection, the process to upload your own images is pretty simple.
  • Click 'My Comic Collection' using the toolbar on the right side.
  • Navigate through 'Publisher' to find the correct publisher and title.
  • Select the correct title and you'll see a list of all issues you own of that title. (remember that you can own multiple copies of an issue which is handy if you have copies in different conditions)
  • Click the issue number of the specific issue you have a scan or pic you wish to upload.
  • Select the 'My Collection' tab, if it's not already displayed, and you will see a list of the copies you own of that particular issue
  • To the right you should see a small icon of a green upwards facing arrow, click that to bring up the upload dialogue window.
  • Find your image to upload and submit.

You can upload a single image for each issue. I personally have found that taking a good picture can look better and more natural than a scan. But I have a small photo booth I've built for taking pictures so I can control the light.

Hope that helps.
Happy uploading!

Cheers!
Jim

Thanks for the heads up about that link. That isn't a comics Price Guide site. One of our members owned that site and suggested it.

I think everyone knows it's not a CPG site, as it says "...I have here at my website", but the idea is to edit out that link from the top post, as that site isn't there now. Surely that can be done?

Is there a way to resubmit a properly sized image after one has been approved that clearly shouldn't have been? I've noticed one user in particular doesn't crop their images and others are approving it when they shouldn't be.

If you let me know what book you want to fix, I can delete the old image. Then you can resubmit it.

Here's one of them I've run across - https://comicspriceguide.com/sales/pghhead/doctor-mirage/1/pixpowx. The seller actually uploaded the picture too.

Oh, I thought you were talking about our images on the site. I cannot help with user uploaded images of things they are selling.

Oh I am, here's the direct link to the title https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/doctor-mirage/1/pkwynvw. The previous one I linked was for the same book using the default previously approved image, which should not have been approved, and just happens to be sold by the person who uploaded the image. Here's another one by the same person https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/banjax/4/pkwxixu.

Here's a couple more that need to be deleted so properly sized pictures can be uploaded.

Thanks for taking care of those. Here's some more. The same user uploading these, they really need to read the first post in this topic, and the users approving these pictures need to as well.

Aloha,

I am wondering if there is a way for me to upload pictures to my collection. For example: I have some blank sketch covers that commissions were done on and would like to upload a picture of the completed commission to my collection. They are graded and signed.

Thank you

Duaernil,
If you go to the main page of the site, then click on your user name in the upper right corner a dropdown will appear. At the bottom of that dropdown is a link called Display Case. Click on that and you can add pictures of your best comics. I think you should be able to see my collection at https://comicspriceguide.com/members/ronbatman or at least some of the pictures I've uploaded.

Hello CPG folks,

I believe I have a variant cover of Cable and The New Mutants TPB, one with red lettering and background. Is there a preferred file type (jpg, bmp, png, etc.) for a cover scan?

Thanks,
OG Stephan
