Preparations For War Thanos is amusing himself by transforming worlds into letters that spell out his name. He wonders what it will take for Death to love him.
On the Shield station above the earth, a scientist finds a startling discovery. He rushes into Colonel Fury with his analysis that shows that the force wave knocked Earth from its orbit. Earth is currently moving further from the sun which will plunge it into an ice age.
Adam Warlock tells his comrades that they need to be patient for his plan to work out. Dr. Strange transports Warlock, Doom, Silver Surfer and Pip to Avengers Headquarters. Adam Warlock tells the remaining Avengers that the only mission should be to raise an army.
Black Widow is searching a burning building for a baby. She is able to save the baby while someone else perishes before she can save her.
Stephen Strange opens a portal and calls superheroes from various places. When the team is fully assembled Dr. Doom suggests that he should be the leader of the group for obvious reasons. No one trusts or backs Dr. Doom as the leader. Adam Warlock and Silver Surfer leave the group to meet some cosmic powers on the other side of the galaxy.
The cosmic summit includes Epoch and Quasar who have been waiting, Silver Surfer and Adam Warlock are the next to arrive. Every cosmic entity and diety arrives in one singular dramatic moment. Adam starts to describe his plan when Galactus interrupts him. The grand Galactus doesn’t want to follow the plans of a yammering meat sack. Eventually, they all decide to follow Warlock’s complex plan to overthrow the Mad Titan.
At Avengers Headquarters, She-Hulk is wondering how they can defeat Thanos when a fight erupts between Iron Man and Dr. Doom.
Back on his memorial to Mistress Death, Thanos sees the Watcher and knows that a battle is approaching. Thanos cannot get Death to love him so he creates a new mate called Terraxia.
Adam Warlock encourages the heroes to prepare themselves for battle, while he and Silver Surfer leave again. At the exact moment, the heroes are transported to Thanos monument to death. While one light year away, Adam says, “ The true purpose of their attack is merely diversionary."
