Flash is killed when accidentally injected with a suspended animation serum yet to undergo human trials. Iris Allen is distraught as Flash is buried in a state funeral. The justice league members act as the paul-bearers. Later the guilt-ridden doctor retrieves his body and tries to bring him back to life when bad guys interrupt. Spoiler alert - the Flash is reanimated by a random lightning strike much like his original hit in the police lab. Bad guys are foiled from stealing the serum and Barry Allen returns to Iris.
The second story has Colonel K of the U.S. IN-T Agency bring an assignment to Barry Allen for the Flash...curiously the agency man knows of the connection between Barry and the superhero. The assignment has the Flash scouring the 4.5 million square miles of a very large Uncle Sam hating country in search of the launch site of a Y-missile. While resting during the exhausting search a friendly passerby warns the Flash of a dangerous mountain nearby, that turns out to be a secret hide-a-way. The Y-MIssile launches as the Flash enters but he is able to catch it and rides its supersonic trajectory heading to "Smith County, Kansas". SPOILER ALERT He is able to thwart the explosion by removing the homing device embedded in the geological marker in the nick of time! The story ends with a curious note from Captain K that has Barry Allen pondering the depth of IN-T Agency advance knowledge.
