The Zero Effect Superman arrives at Emil Hamilton's lab, determined to repair the Mother Box which helped him battle Doomsday. Professor Hamilton has been analyzing a doppelganger Superman body in order to determine its origins. Hamilton is able to repair the Mother Box, and Superman then opens a Boom Tube to New Genesis.
Highfather welcomes the Man of Steel, escorting him to Metron's Lab, where a comatose Brainiac is still securely held. Along with Orion and Lightray,they discuss the villain's inert state, the Atom reveals himself as a stowaway on the Man of Steel. The Atom quickly accesses Metron's Mobius Chair, hoping to reverse the effects of the Zero Hour reordering of time which left him as a teenager. The tiny hero sends the chair into Hyperspace, along with the entire room containing the New Gods and Superman. Though they nearly enter a black hole, the heroes work together to avoid a catastrophe.
The New Gods promise to Boom Tube the ashamed Atom back to Earth, while Superman, now convinced the brain-dead Brainiac can not be behind his current troubles, is determined to visit Apokolips.
