No Title Given Scott and Barda are on New Genesis dealing with the threat set by Granny Goodness or Darkseid. Orion directs Scott from one battle to the next in rapid progression. Each time he says, “For New Genesis” and he calls Orion by his name instead of “Highfather”.
After the battle Scott cannot figure out how to turn on the shower on New Genesis. Barda remembers life on Apokolips where if you were dirty you went into the emberlake, if you survived you were clean.
Later in the throne room Barda and Scott stand in front of Orion, who is the new Highfather. Barda addresses him as “Highfather" and Scott addresses him as “Orion”. Lightray tells Scott and Barda that they are required to kneel before the Highfather now. There are a few tense moments when neither of them kneel but eventually Barda does. She looks at Scott and then pulls him down.
Orion tells them that they have fought and won in the west but in the east they have lost 250,000 troops. He attributes this success to their field commander, Granny Goodness. He wants Mister Miracle and Big Barda to kill Granny Goodness.
During the night Metron tells them repeatedly that they are “not to know the face of God”.
The next morning as Scott Free and Barda prepare to meet Granny Goodness, Scott asks if she ever liked Granny. “I never liked her.” Granny seems genuinely happy to see them, calling them “darling”, “wonderful” and such. During a snack of green Jell-O Granny tells them that Darkseid would only accept unconditional surrender or Orion’s head in a basket. By the way she is starving a man but making him watch them eat.
In the middle of the night Barda and Scott sneak around the camp killing Granny’s soldiers. When they reach Granny’s tent she zaps Big Barda and encourages Scott to follow her. She tells him of Orion’s visit where he told Granny that Barda and Scott were going to try and kill her. And that Orion wanted Granny to kill Scott.
There is a prophecy that says Darkseid can only be killed by his own son and Granny thinks that son is Scott Free. By this time, Barda has awoken from Granny’s blast and pounds her head. Scott and Barda return to New Genesis.
