Tommy has a dream/vision of him still serving alongside Rita, standing above the defeated Power Rangers. He's snapped out of it by Jason who's driving them to school. An ethereal version of Rita is in the back seat and says things to undermine Tommy's confidence. They meet up with the other rangers at school, but Tommy leaves saying he'll catch up with the others later.
Rita has Finster create a new monster, Bullzer, and they send it to attack the city, The rangers summon the DragonZord and the MegaZord to combat Bullzer. Jason says they need to get it away from the bridge, but Tommy attacks it head-on. The Megazord grapples and restrains Bullzer, and Jason tells Tommy to take the shot. Tomy tries, but the DragonZord won't respond to his commands, and the ethereal version of Rita continues to mock him. Tommy manages to hit the monster, but loses control of the Dragonzord and knocks out a portion of the bridge. Cars begin to fall off, but Kimberly manages to rescue them in her Zord.
Back at the command center, Jason reprimands Tommy for not following directions, and Tommy argues back that the directions weren't clear. Zordon reprimands them both, saying Jason needs to make sure directions are understood and Tommy needs to ask when things are unclear. He also says they need to be careful as Rita's connection to the Green Power Coin is still strong, and she is likely plotting revenge.
At the bridge, Scorpina retrieves a crystal from the water that had been planted previously. Rita calls the crystal "our new beginning".

Principal Caplan is yelling at Bulk and Skull for bringing animals into a debate but is interrupted by a cash on delivery order for 30 italian party subs. Caplan runs off to deal with it while Bulk and Skull escape, revealing they had ordered the subs.
Bulk tries to invite Kimberly and Trini to lunch, but another student, Roni, turns them down and starts talking about the Power Rangers. Upon noticing that Trini and Kimberly like the Power Rangers, Bulk says he and Skull have to become the New Power Rangers.

Rita summons a magic mist to keep the Rangers separated while Goldar attacks the Green Ranger. Goldar is about to deal a final blow to Tommy, but Jason intervenes. Jason calls for the other rangers to help, but they can't see them due to the mist. Billy manages to triangulate their location just as Goldar grows to giant size. Goldar attempts to stomp on Tommy and Jason, but Trini covers them with her Zord. Trini, Billy, and ZacK distract Goldar while Jason and Tommy call their own Zords.
