Set in an unlikely blue-collar town of Albuquerque, New Mexico. In the opening scene, Kick-Ass is caught by two large thugs and taken to their boss. After being thrown down in front of the boss, she has her mask removed.

Flashback to 12 weeks ago when she was in the military in Afghanistan. She is trying to free one of her fellow soldiers from a group of four men. In a risky move, she opens fire on the group, gunning them down with the help of her comrade. Outside an angry crowd is fighting to break in. In a desperate move to escape, Coop and Patience put an injured soldier into a vehicle and drive it through the garage wall. Under heavy small arms fire, they reach a barricade but a friendly helicopter is able to help them break free.

Later while in the rescue helicopter her fellow soldiers are teasing her about going home. She tells them her plans to go to college and get an engineering degree. She's anxious to see her kids and let her husband provide for the family.

When Patience arrives at the airport in Albuquerque she is greeted by her kids and parents with plenty of hugs and smiles. Her husband is noticeably not present. Shocked that her husband left her after she's been supporting his music career for 8 years, Patience wants to beat him.

As a responsible adult Patience gets a job as a waitress to pay the bills. When she gets a grasp on the bills that her ex-husband amassed Patience knows that her waitress job isn't enough. In the middle of her parental tasks, she realizes that she needs a new plan, being the vigilante Kick-Ass. Patience plans to steal from shady businesses, keep some of the money and give away the rest.

Back to the opening scene when she is captured by thugs and thrown in front of their boss. As the boss draws a weapon and mocks Kick-Ass, she smiles before she takes down all four men. She drags the boss over to the safe and demands that he fills up the bag with cash.
