Testing out a new plane for the Ferris Aircraft Company, Hal Jordan spots a new costumed criminal, the Aerialist. As Hal parachutes down to the ground, the Aerialist tells Hal that he's getting revenge for for Elke Hensen who's death he blames on the Ferris family. Telling Carol, she relates a story about a circus that was put on for the Ferris Aircraft Company in which trapeze artists Elke Hensen was killed by a freak bolt of lightning and that her lover Otto Fisher vowed revenge someday.
