A Life Force The story of everyday people on Dropsie Street in New York City in the 1930s. How the folks in one building survive the Great Depression, look for work, meet, fall in love, struggle through family travails and cling to a life force - like, like a cockroach. A brilliant look at everyday people under extreme conditions and extreme sadness on the state of the world. The story is very powerful, it drags you emotionally to these peoples lives. The story is written very much from a Jewish point of view with cynicism, humor and acknowledgement of the greater universal power God, who creates events beyond our understanding. My personal recommendation is not to read more than on chapter per day - it takes that long to digest it and be prepared to read more.
