There is a grading guide on the site. Right here. https://comicspriceguide.com/comic-book-grading
Basically, you're looking for imperfections in the book, spine creases - small lines coming from the left edge folds - There are folds that break color and those that don't. wear - Gloss - Missing pieces - inside or out writing especially on the cover rounded corners
This might help for newbies. When you think you have the grade figured out (like 7.5) go to ebay and type in "CGC 7.5". Do those books look similar in condition to your book? If so, then you're close. Hope that helps, Ron |

Daniel, Are you talking about the Alias #1 you have an accepted offer on? When you have an offer out you can see the grade, (you have 5 or 6 books like this) when it's accepted the grade isn't visible until it gets into your collection.
I see your point about the confusion in the interim. Glad you're using our site, Ron |

Comic Book Convention Survival Guide
RonbatmanAdministrator
|
I look up the guest list for comic book artists and writers and gather books from my collection with their name on it. Usually only one or two for each person. I don't want to carry around a lot of stuff.
I print out my want list from ComicsPriceGuide and start thumbing through books. If I'm early I start at the back of the convention hall and work my way forward. The first booths are usually packed at the beginning. |

I went to Indy Comic Con over the weekend and talked to several of the dealers about "hot" comics. Most dealers who sell older books talked about Thanos and Black Panther. The new book dealers talked about Red Goblin and Venom.
I checked for some of the new books that have entered the hot list and found them for $1 or $2 each. http://blog.comicspriceguide.com/2018/03/09/hot-comic-books-for-spring-2018/ |

Collection to Sell on CPG
RonbatmanAdministrator
|
Last week I purchased a collection of 1900 comics from a gentleman in Northern Indiana. Almost all of them I will be selling on CPG, I have to keep a few for myself. (Daredevil is one of my favorites as you can tell by my recent article) He included a handwritten list of all books. This week I'll try to list a bunch of them so if you're looking for something send me an email or message. Here is a quick summary.
246 issues of Captain America starting with 102 289 issues of Daredevil starting with #24 not missing many issues from 47 to 379 169 issues of Fantastic Four starting with #45 bulk of the collection is from 150 to 397 99 issues of Batman Avengers, Adam Warlock 1st and 2nd series, Conan, Casper, Cloak and Dagger, assorted 90's era and 50's era Lassie.
If you buy from me I will expertly pack and ship your books. Since I work for CPG I cannot sell any book that recently had a price increase. Our reputation is more important than making a few extra bucks on a book. Thanks, Ron |

Most Creative Publisher

Maybe my post should have read. Which publisher allows the most creativity? Creativity has a positive and negative because you're allowing more flexibility in what you publish. There is a potential risk and a potential reward involved. There is no implication that what is creative is necessarily good.
Looking back Marvel became a force in the early 60's because of creativity, new characters. I feel like Image is allowing creators the ability to make something awesome and only a few have. Kirkman is basically a factory of awesome. (IMO) |

You can once again add creators to the database. I just added Boris Vallejo and Christopher Jones to the database. If you have several just let me know and I'll try to quickly approve them. Ron |

Comic Price Guide as "Go To" for Comic Sales

We've talked about something like that. It would be for paying members since our competitors often copy things on our site. Most people would be shocked at the number of comics bought and sold on CPG everyday. Those sales help us stay current with our pricing.

Batman Adventure Forever!
I have trouble being unbias because the comic shop owner was teasing me about buying Batman Adventures back when it came out. We are friends so it wasn't a big deal. Now I can laugh at him because I bought it for cover price from his store. It seems strange to me that the first appearance isn't counted as the first appearance. So your argument is that it wasn't in a regular title? |

Yes, you can add multiple creators through a single book even if they didn't work on it. When you add a creator it doesn't add them to that specific book only to the cue for us to approve. |

Comic covers by artists and not limited "variants"
RonbatmanAdministrator
|
I think there are several that have. Anything Neal Adams did is higher than everything else around it. The best example from Neal is Batman 251. There is nothing about the book that makes it great other than the fantastic cover.
There are people who follow a specific artist because they love their art. Greg Horn, Alex Ross, Adam Hughes, Ed Risso, Stanley Artgerm, Jim Lee, Mike Mignola, Gabriele Dell'Otto, Frank Miller, Amanda Conner, Babs Tarr, Rocafort, Jock, etc. Now, most of the great cover artist are doing variants so it's a rarity and artist driving the price.
I'll buy a book based on the cover sometimes. No regrets about doing it. edited by ronbatman on 4/5/2018 |
