Hi, i'm also new on CPG. Gold or Platinum is the color of the background of the valiant logo in the upper left corner - white, gold, platinum.

I hope i could help.

There is a grading guide on the site. Right here. https://comicspriceguide.com/comic-book-grading

Basically, you're looking for imperfections in the book,
spine creases - small lines coming from the left edge
folds - There are folds that break color and those that don't.
wear -
Gloss -
Missing pieces - inside or out
writing especially on the cover
rounded corners

This might help for newbies. When you think you have the grade figured out (like 7.5) go to ebay and type in "CGC 7.5". Do those books look similar in condition to your book? If so, then you're close.
Hope that helps,
Ron
