Now is a good time to send us your books for pressing and cleaning. We just finished 53 book order and are ready to knock out your books. Once you have books pressed, it's addictive. Even new books look so much better. R |

New Personalized Gains and Drops

|
We are happy to report that we have finished the new personalized gains and drops page. Now you can click on your user name in the upper right corner of the site. (not while on the forum) Go to the Gains/Drops tab and then at the bottom you will see a link to My Gains/Drops. (We need to fix the label, currently, it says All Gains/Drops but our developer knows about it)
https://comicspriceguide.com/gains-drops/
This page is personalized to the specific book in your collection. So if you have a 7.5 and the price changed, it will show. It's much more specific because it's not based on the 9.4 change, it's based on your book. Because it's more specific you will see more changes because now graded changes will show if you have that book. Plus changes where the 9.4 remained the same but the other grades did not.
AND, it will show if you have that book for sale and the price. For sellers this is a fantastic way to keep track. No one has this feature but Comics Price Guide
Round of applause for our developer and all-around good guy Bryan! Enjoy, Ron edited by ronbatman on 3/2/2021 |

Superman and Lois

Last night I watched the pilot for Superman and Lois and it's got potential. Superman is the same guy, Tyler Hoechlin, who plays Superman in the CW Supergirl show. It's not romantic like Lois and Clark. It's not learning his powers with a love triangle like Smallville. It's more of a family drama with superpowers. The dynamic between being a father, a husband and a son versus being Superman is where the story lives. He's not perfect and struggles with some things while still being the strongest person on the planet. It's an interesting twist on a well-loved character.
I'm not joining the official fan club but I'm going to watch the next episode tonight. (along with WandaVision) R edited by ronbatman on 3/5/2021 |

How to request an enhancement?
RonbatmanAdministrator

He has been working on a few things for us. The first was an internal feature that allows for faster UPC additions to help with the app scanning. The other feature he recently worked on is the personalized gains and drops page. Which is similar to your request but not the same. This allows you to see increases or decreases in your specific issues in whatever grade you have. So instead of seeing just 9.4 raw changes, you can see a 7.5 raw change or a graded 9.8 change if that's in your collection.
I will remind him of your request but I can't speak for him. R |

Where in this market does everyone find
RonbatmanAdministrator
|
There are hundreds of Amazing Spiderman issues listed on this site for at or around the value listed here. You know that you can buy from sellers on this site, right?
ASM 150 has 11 sellers ASM 151 has 8 sellers etc, etc.
But I do agree that there are weird things happening in the market. Here are some of the reasons that I believe cause this. 1. Online vs Real World pricing can sometimes vary dramatically. Spawn 1 can sell for $1 in nm online and $20 at a comic shop. I've spoken to several comic shops and this is almost always the case. 2. Because of the stimulus checks the prices for comics has risen dramatically, especially key issues. When the initial rush is over, the prices drop back down again. It's definitely a seller's market as Oxbladder mentioned. 3. The speculation market is driving the overall market more so than in the past. There are a few individuals who can say any book is hot and it will immediately rise in value.

Here's a closeup with a before and after picture. Some dirt cannot be removed but there is a dramatic difference with the right tools. This specific book used 4 different methods for cleaning.

As I've mentioned before sometimes a direct or newsstand is missing because we cannot find it. Some are extremely rare.
We currently have 3 admins working on missing variants to cut the number down. They have taken 600 variants off the list so can we stop saying "no telling when they'll get added"? Please. Those three guys are working hard, researching, pricing, and approving the variants. Ron |

X-Men 141 double cover

Double cover issues are rare but not impossible to find. It would be impossible for anyone to know the real number for them. I would suggest doing an Ebay search for x-men and double cover. Find out what kind of price difference there is between a regular and double cover issue.
CGC will grade double covers and assign a grade to each cover. If yours is a high grade (above 9.4), I would recommend having it graded. Ron |

I thought it was better in every way! Visually, storytelling, etc.
After watching it I want to know who at WB decided to go with the forgettable Whedon version instead of this version? Seriously, how could you watch the choppy Whedon version and the Snyder version and say, "Yep, let's go with this crap." (shaking my head) |

You're right. Unless I mention it, you have no idea how many people behind the scenes are working on something. That's why I try to keep all of the forum regulars updated on what is happening with the site. I try to let everyone know as I know. One of my goals with Comics Price Guide is to make sure that everyone can see the work that the team is doing. I'm proud of their work. I'm sorry if my answer came off a little snippy, I get frustrated sometimes. R |

Possible New Forum
RonbatmanAdministrator
|
Some of you have mentioned to me that we should get a new forum. Ours has some issues, especially related to pictures and other features. We are currently in talks with some forum services to see if we can export the existing data in this forum to a new one. (whichever best fits our needs and budget) As usual, we will let you know in advance.
The forum might have to go down for a day or two while we sync everything up. The added difficulty is that our forum has to create a profile for each member of the site automatically. We have some hurdles but are cautiously optimistic that we can make this happen.
I will keep you updated when we make a decision and then as we move forward. Ron |

Overstreet Price Guide - Values?
RonbatmanAdministrator
|
I agree that all guides are just guides.
If anyone uses Overstreet I always ask them if I can buy all of the hot issues that came out after publication or books that have risen in value since publication. They ALWAYS say no. I understand that people have a sense of nostalgia about Overstreet but in today's age you shouldn't use them. They are always behind because of their model. We've changed hundreds of prices in the last week or two. ALL of those are outdated in the printed Overstreet. |

UPC Codes

As you know anyone can add UPCs to the website. However, we have an admin who has been focused on adding UPCs to help members find books faster. Because of his efforts and yours we have topped 175,000 UPCs in the system! That is a huge jump from the last time I reported these numbers. As more and more books get UPCs added that makes our app even better.
Can I request that the app users give us some love on Google Play and the Apple Store? By love, I mean 5 stars and a nice review. Leaving us a good review helps us and there isn't anyone here who hasn't been helped by CPG. All this free content isn't free to produce. Ron edited by ronbatman on 3/25/2021 |

CPG members sell thousands of books. Taskmaster knows this because he personally has bought hundreds from CPG. I've said repeatedly that if you let me know of a seller who is unresponsive I will talk to them. Worst case I will delete their listings. (I did this last week to someone's account)
We are trying to build this part of the site and honestly it's going fantastic. We have 15% growth each of the last 2 years and 30% growth the year before. Yes, I get it there are a few bad sellers (and buyers) but the vast majority are honest people saving money selling here instead of the Bay. R edited by ronbatman on 3/29/2021 |
