Several...Damn you are awesome. I have one, I'm happy with that
+1, and mine is low grade.
I don't consider mine high grade. There are several reasons I end up with multiples.
1) I think it's a key book that's undervalued. If I can flip it for a profit, I can use that as leverage to get something more valuable that I really want even more. 2) I think it's good trade fodder for something I want even more. I traded a stack of duplicate comics from the 70's and 80's for my first Strange tales #110. I was almost flat broke at the time. I had one year where I was essentially unemployed and made less than $10,000 the whole year! 3) I'm trying to upgrade my copy. I think everyone wants the best copy that they can (or will willingly) afford. In 1982, I paid $125 for a copy of X-Men #1 through the mail. It was all I could afford. I was VERY displeased with the condition upon arrival... but it was all that I could afford and it was the only retailer that had one advertised for sale. Later in the year, I'd saved some money and my local comic shop picked up a similar condition copy and had it priced $100. I bought it with the hope to upgrade. I was hoping a retailer might be willing to do a 2 for 1 trade if they had a higher grade copy. A few months went by and I couldn't afford to date and collect comics. I dropped comics for a decade and put them in storage. By the time I got them out of storage I liked having 2 copies. It had really increased in value.
I was buying the 1st Shield in an attempt to upgrade my copy. I felt it was undervalued. Who knew they'd make a TV show about SHIELD and feature them in a string of Marvel movies? I felt it was undervalued, but maybe Marvel Studios helped me out a little unintentionally.

I don't know toys or video game collecting, so I'm not aware of how that turned out. I assume the movie skyrocketed the price? You can't put too much thought into what you passed on. You just have to be aware that if everyone thinks something is hot and everyone is telling you to buy something, that's probably not what's going to increase in price.

Neat book:
Secrets Behind the Comics (1947)

I was a little annoyed after getting this because the retailer had a nicer copy for sale but he had it hidden until he sold this one with stains on the front cover. I would've bought the nicer copy. Things like that make me want to boycott a seller. |

Foom was more like Marvel publishing their own fanzine. I used to see the ads as a kid. These were sentimental purchases.

Hey i have that one, Was a series of them. Think i'm missing one... Good reads as well. He was last seen in the recent Carnage books.
Good to know. I see this as an undervalued book with potential. I would buy more if I saw them in nice condition. I rarely ever see this in stores.
The later issues have excellent art. Some of Marvel's best.

Cool, Seen that on the old forum...What do the inside pages look like Defiant? (sweet stuff in your BI thread)
I don't have it handy to describe it in detail, but it's essentially a telling of how comics are made. I remember it had art samples showing you inking and lettering. It looked like an early tool to enlist comic creators. Mostly text, but it had art to show you what the text is talking about.

Love these odd books, I had a change to get this 2-3 yrs ago. In NM to boot, Turned it down for something else (can't remember what it was Lol)
I had driven across town. When I saw it, I remembered it being on the spinner rack as a kid and passing on it. The condition of this was excellent and the price was reasonable. It smelled like it had just rolled off the printing press. I couldn't pass on it a second time.

Some of the Foom content is referred back to as being a "first". I 'think" John Byrne has some fan art in one before he was an artist working at Marvel. |

Black Hole #1-3 adapt the movie. #4 is a Whitman prepack only issue and has a sweet painted dino cover - I'm still missing that one.
Yep. It would be harder to acquire. Thankfully I never dove into the Whitman Black Hole... LOL! I have some that were purchased in bulk collection or things I bought when I was kid. For the most part I just follow what's hot or cool, but never actually seek them out.

This is a nice Texiera series for Black Panther...

Not sure why issue #2 needed a Kirby rip-off cover. I can't even tell who drew it. I have no idea if one is a limited variant.
Nice FF cover on #3

I never noticed that Joe Jusko had drawn a couple of issues. I never knew he'd ever drawn a comic. I thought he just did covers and cards.

By issue #11, the Quantum & Woody team was reunited on the book...

And by #14.... Velluto...

The early look of the book had me buying it, but by this issue it's looking like an Acclaim book.
