Someone must like him as I read that his show has been picked up for next year. On my street I know a guy that looks forward to the show, Orville. |

Number 280 leads into, of course, # 281 which is sold out at the distributor already, 3 weeks ahead of time. |

Nobody sleeps (dot dot dot)

I'm up at 4 a.m. I'm laughing at some of the videos from Hawaii of people scrambling to save their lives from the imaginary nuclear attack that the government of Hawaii falsely announced the other day. They say that the Hawaii government reassigned the person responsible, but in government agencies that actually means they probably promoted him to in order to move him out. That is how the federal government operates. And yet Hawaii has not fired any supervisors. So I'm laughing at the people and I'm laughing at the government of Hawaii. I am especially waiting for more YouTube videos of the people's panic. And I think if there was a nuclear attack coming it would do the people no good to go into bunkers or whatever; they could just kiss their ass goodbye. But perhaps by having these imaginary escapes the people of Hawaii might make themselves feel better |

This is all leading up to the Red Goblin appearance in # 800. Marvel has been slow boating it to that issue, but in issue number 795 it shows Norman Osborn interacting with a piece of Carnage which is probably the Red of the Red Goblin coming up in the future. The new Daredevil sold out as well as it introduces a new wacked-out villain called Muse. |

Possibility of Liefeld getting into the Smithsonia

If anyway was watching the news when the Obamas had their White House portraits displayed and saw what passed for artwork due to affirmative action, then it should be very apparent that Rob Liefeld could someday have his artwork also displayed at the Smithsonian. Apparently the Obamas picked two black artists and paid the price. The news media is having a hilarious time making fun of the pictures. Michelle Obama's is so bad and out of proportion that news reporters have been shown on the street displaying a photograph of the portrait and nobody being able to guess who it is. I did see one woman make a wild guess due to the big arms that were out of proportion saying that Michelle Obama also had big arms. So when next you see Rob Liefeld artwork, remember he could be the next Picasso. edited by colbalt91 on 2/14/2018 edited by colbalt91 on 2/14/2018 |

Tomb Raider starring Alicia Vikander

This new "Tomb Raider" movie is an origin story. This is not Angelina Jolie's "Tomb Raider". Angelina Jolie played a much more confident and super heroine type role. In this movie Alicia Vikander plays a true novice. She is young and still inept, but willing to learn... and learn quickly. In this way this movie fulfills the origin aspect of the Tomb Raider mythos. In contrast to the "Tomb Raider" movies we have been used to, this movie is rather low budget. Most of the actors are British so this movie was undoubtedly funded from Britain. For the most part the accents do not get in the way accept in a few scenes when the actors talk very low. Since there is no big budget for this film, then this movie has to rely on good acting and a passable plot. In that regard this movie fulfills that purpose. This is a very enjoyable movie that makes do with a small budget. In many ways this movie had the feel of a 1960s style adventure movie. Kristin Scott Thomas is the only known actor in this movie. At least to me. She is not in very much of this film, but by the end of the movie you see she will be featured in any sequels. And this movie definitely ends with the promise of a sequel. That is unless it bombs miserably. However, with what looks like a low budget this Tomb Raider does not have to make much money as in mega millions to showa profit. So in my opinion there will probably be a sequel. |

I went yesterday. It seems like they had kept the people down to about a hundred for each signing. Jim Lee signed by himself first. Then about two and a half hours later Jim Lee and Frank Miller signed together. Then about 3 hours later Brian Michael Bendis signed and signed everything you could put in front of him. The other guests we're limited to two autographs per person. |

As Miller was only giving two autographs per signing, I got a deluxe hardcover of the Elektra: Assassin signed and an All Star Batman and Robin hardcover. That was with Jim Lee, so I had Jim Lee and Frank Miller both sign the inside of the hardcover. For the second signing, which I did not know there was until that very day, I just had Frank Miller sign my autograph book and a cardboard backing board for comics. I did not bring anything else for Miller to sign. I took a bus into the center of Austin where the DC pop-up was as there was very little parking and if you did get some parking it would be pretty expensive. So I would have to have taken the bus back out got to my car and driven to my house and driven my car back to a not too far location and taking the bus back into the center of Austin. Plus I don't know how to put up images on the site. Plus to show how bad parking was, I read a Bleeding Cool article where there writer had his car towed away as he was doing a breakfast interview. Registering on the site they provided proved very confusing. I had accidentally registered for two sessions with Miller, thinking I only had one. I registered for one signing with Jim Lee, which was the double signing with Frank Miller, but there were two others that I was unaware of. Someone in the line told me that they had added different signings for different people at another day on the web. That might have explained the low turnout also, which was good for the people that showed up. edited by colbalt91 on 3/12/2018 |

I was reading Harvey Pekar's American Splendor #2 from the year 2006 published by Vertigo and noticed that in the center of the book there were duplicate pages. The middle two pages are the same as the pages underneath them. The stories are still complete by accident. I am looking at it trying to figure out what artist is missing from the list they have on the front cover and the name Chris Samnee turns up. So whatever story he did was not printed in this edition. I am just letting people know about this. I have no idea if they ever put out a corrected edition or not. Someone may find this information useful. |

I just saw on our recent price guide changes that this book that came out almost a month ago is now going for $22 or $24. Scratching my head on this. I know the book has been picked up to be an animated cartoon feature on some cable network, but then shouldn't it be number one going up? |

Comic Book Convention Survival Guide

I would add... That if you do take a credit card, which you probably will, notify the credit card company ahead of time of the situation that you might be seemingly charging your card simultaneously in different parts of the country. What I mean is that you may have a vendor from California that takes credit cards, and you may have a vendor from New York that takes credit cards and you may have a vendor from Florida that takes credit cards. If you try to use your credit cards without informing your credit card company of this certain situation they might shut down your credit card figuring that somebody has swiped it and sent the number to different people across the country. Then you will be without a credit card at the convention. And a lot of conventions are held in places that are very difficult for a phone to get out of frequency wise. So you will have to step outside of the building entirely in some cases to call your credit card company to try to rectify the situation. |
