BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE feature animation film

Not sure if anyone has started a thread of this but I am pumped to see this, the Batman: the KILLING JOKE animation movie. Bruce Timm is involved not to mention the cast from the cartoon Batman, the animated series is back to do it.. Mark Hamill as the Joker, heck ya!!! Incase you haven't seen the trailer and the sneak peek, here is a link for those interested. The trailer comes first and then wait for the sneak peek to load and they have interviews and such. Worth watching, trailer 2 minutes long, and the sneak peek is about 10 minutes. looks like it might come out around Summer I think. See link below.

Hey Gil, I was wondering what got you started searching and buying second and later printings of books? Are they easier to buy those types of books where you live, or because of where you live, they are sold more often by stores? Also how many of these books do you own now and what are a few of the expensive books you purchased or what books were hard to find that you are really happy owning after finding the book? Any new ones you are targeting now for purchase? |

Nice collection, I like the cover of #8 the most. Wouldn't mind reading the "Floating Head" story. |

Dynamic Forces?

Dynamic Forces is an online/mail order retailer (not sure if they are still around) that published a lot of special covers as an incentive for people to buy from them. In many cases, the number of copies were limited to a set number (the C of A might have a number on it to indicate that), so they were sealed with the sticker to ensure that they were authentic. They do have some value, but in most cases, the vast majority of the copies produced were all preserved and kept unread, meaning that there is not a massive demand outpacing the supply. I have put one or two of mine in better bags, carefully removing the sticker and affixing it to the new bag (and if the bag has a special mark on it, I preserve that behind the board). I have heard that this is ok, though there are probably some that would see this as damaging the original product. I don't think there is a set rule about what to do about the additional thing included with comics, like a special polybag, but it is best to keep them with the issue, even if they are being altered.
Yep, dynamic forces are still around. Your advice is what I do. Put book and COA in Mylar and lift sticker and adhere on Mylar. It works 9 out of 10 times. |

You are correct, I have a two low grade 121 and one high grade 121, but one fine 122. Those were my holy grail books years ago. The vf/nm- 121 I bought around 7 years ago for $125, which was a big buy for me. The 122 in fine condition I bought for $25 about the same time and I got it from a seller on eBay with 5 feedbacks and no scan of the book! Strange Tales 89 is a BIG issue I would love to own, but it is hard for me to save enough money for one. It is one of my holy grail books I most likely will never own, but never say never I guess. Something to shoot for.
So you got strange tales 89 and not posted for me to see? Come on, don't leave me hanging. POST IT PLEASE. Saying Fin Fang Foom is fun! edited by Jokerbangedquinn on 5/21/2016 |

Ha! Nice indeed. You lucky son of a gun! After Strange Tales 89 accomplished, what is the next big book you seek now? My two I'm saving for are Batman 92 (bathound 1st app) and Batman 121. Both I can't afford at this time but they are on my list. edited by Jokerbangedquinn on 5/21/2016 |

I would have to agree about the JLA cover, what is up with that? Bad animals with weapons? Ha, I'd buy it to read no doubt. I am still a sucker for holograph cards and covers. They are just cool looking to me and yep, when flooded by the scanner light they can show very well. One of my favorite holograph card is the skydisc for Batman. They also had it on a cd size disk and it is cool to say the least. http://www.ebay.com/itm/SEALED-1994-DC-Comics-Batman-Promo-Skybox-Dark-Knight-Skydisc-/272246468462?hash=item3f63276f6e:g:5dwAAOSwVcFXO77j http://www.ebay.com/itm/Batman-1994-Skydisc-Hologram-Skybox-SD1-/361559161014?hash=item542e9af8b6:g:Rm4AAOSwPYZU4uIC
Millie the Model, I just don't get it really. I know some collectors love it and can cost a bunch, just not my deal though. Do you have many? Good writing in them? edited by Jokerbangedquinn on 5/22/2016 |

I haven't really put that much thought into it yet. I've only recently considered changing my focus on keys (since space is a consideration now). I may go for some ASM type ones, since there are a lot of those. Perhaps that first Aunt May/Uncle Ben in Strange Tales. Of course, I have to save up some cash for a few months before I have to make that decision. Aaron[/quote
Space...the final frontier.....these are the voyages of collectors...finding space to store their collections.....
I have run out of space myself. Around 4,000 books and it is unmanageable. Has been awhile but I am sick figuring out where to put the next box not to mention single book. I would say I could get ride of 3,000 and just save 1,000. As for saving money, I need to work on that too. As for Aunt May and Uncle Ben's first appearance, way out of my league of a book. Nice you can achieve such a book. |

Jim Aparo does a mean looking cover for the Spectre in Adventure Comics. Spectre is one character I would love to see in a movie.

First appearance of Lilith, Dracula's daughter. Giant-Size books I really enjoyed and this copy is one of my best.

A nice copy. Defenders Giant-Size, a strange team to say the least, I love them.

A few posts ago I said I completed the Giant-Size series. A few I bought as slabs too.

first full story of Kiss in a comic.

Giant size Dell books I enjoy. The ones I have I have tried to get a raw to go with the graded one. Tom&Jerry cracks me up.

Did anyone say X-MEN? here you go....

A issue I would buy anytime I saw one at a decent price. I got around 7 or so copies plus three CGC 9.6 copies. the CGC 9.8 I gave to my daughter.

A story I enjoyed reading with Wolverine. Claremont is one of my favorite writers.

Steranko is top notch in my book. He wasn't as prolific of some artists, writers and creators but he definitely made his mark. His first work in Spyman is still a reasobale priced book. Getting a high grade of it is a little harder but still easily enough. Looks like you, me, the administrator and a few others are just hanging around here now. Dead but not dead yet! |

Never thought about that. I know eight years ago there was a lot of talks of politics in the USA. A good amount left after the flame wars of that and recently the crash of the site lost around 95% of the remaining members posting. Before the crash there was at least a good core of members even though it was under 40 people. Tex kept it lively and many responded to his good nature. |

Thanks for sharing about Millie and Stan's work load. Living at that time period I guess you are right of being nostalgic. Mentioning Andy Giffith Show, that is something brings me back to watching tv with my whole family, a good memory no doubt. What is cool about the skydisc is you move it slowly around and Batman is in the middle of the disc standing with his cowl and he starts to look up at you! Genius. |

I can fully understand that. Out of pocket I choke myself most often. After buying Batman books the past few years I have accepted buying books over $30 and don't flinch much at $60 for one book. Of course I'm more selective in the book I buy. |
