Approving Data and Increasing Your Ranking
RonbatmanAdministrator

This is my understanding based on conversations with the person who designed the level system.
There are no set numbers to reach the next level, it's a moving scale. I'm going to toss some numbers out to help with understanding. Let's suppose this is true.
Number of Level 9 members - 100 Number of level 8 members - 200 Number of level 7 members - 300 Number of level 6 members - 400 Number of level 5 members - 500 Number of level 4 members - 1000 Number of Level 3 members - 2000 Number of level 2 members - 10,000 Number of level 1 members - 100,000
If you are a level 4 member you have to approve more things than the last person who is a level 5. Because there are a limited number of level 5 members on the site. It was designed this way to keep people who are currently active near the top. Personally I think it should be based on a number of approved items but I don't get to make that decision.
BasementComics who said he was a Level 4 last year is now a level 6 so he got there!
Remember it only counts when someone approves your entry, not when you submit it. I hope that helps, Ron |

New Update to the App Coming
RonbatmanAdministrator
|
Quick Update - We have submitted the revisions for the app to the Apple Store and Google Play. We are waiting for their approvals and/or issues with the app. If there are problems we could be delayed a few days.
When the app is approved, if you find a book that has a UPC code but it's not in our system, please add the UPC. This will help everyone looking for the book and you can scan the book right after entering the code. I've tried it and after entering the code the scanner immediately recognizes it. (which is very cool) If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Ron |

Adding UPC codes for some early direct issues

Great question. I've seen those issues where they drew a diagonal line over the barcode then a few issues later added pictures or text in that box. Anyway, continue to ignore those issues since the barcode scanner cannot read them anyway. Ron |

Duaernil, If you go to the main page of the site, then click on your user name in the upper right corner a dropdown will appear. At the bottom of that dropdown is a link called Display Case. Click on that and you can add pictures of your best comics. I think you should be able to see my collection at https://comicspriceguide.com/members/ronbatman or at least some of the pictures I've uploaded. Ron |

We had all sorts of trouble with the blog recently so we took it down for a while. Now, we've got it back up and a few blog posts back on the site. In the coming days, we will continue to add content until it's built back to its former glory. It will change along the way as we test out different templates and looks.
Along those lines, if you have a suggestion for a blog post please let us know. We want to give you the content that informs or entertains. Ron |

It might be because of your spelling error. Try Red SONJA instead of Sojna. I was able to find a Red Sonja from 2005 from Dynamite. (with sword for #0) |

We make no promises about when a variant will be approved. There are a lot of different tasks that we do each week to keep the guide going. We receive hundreds each week so we are never caught up. I always suggest that members approve data to help us focus on the things only we can do.

Merry Christmas and Thank You

Merry Christmas to all of you who celebrate it!
I'd like to offer a sincere thank you to everyone who helped out this year. Whether you submitted variants, price change suggestions, approved data, followed us on social media or became a member of the site. To our admins, thank you! Most of you work behind the scenes helping, adding and improving things. You really are the best!
This was a great year for Comics Price Guide. We added several new features and improvements. We've added thousands and thousands of new books and older newsstand/direct books. We've made thousands of price changes We've added a barcode scanner to our app Our overall traffic increased this year even with new competitors We've grown our social media presence, especially Instagram which was almost non-existent at the start of the year.
All of this is for our members.
In the coming year, we want to get better. As I try to mention whenever possible, we are in this for the long-term. We will be adding new things, possible a new website.
Once again, thank you Ron |

Update the site
RonbatmanAdministrator
|
For the most recent questions.
Yes, comics are posted every week. We have chosen not to post things in advance in case they are delayed as is often the case. Previews doesn't always show the variant covers especially if the artist is still working on them. They never show the store or artist exclusives which can sometimes be 100 books.
A person goes into a comic shop, takes pictures of all the books and puts them in the system every week. We do need help with the variants because there isn't a list so we rely on members to help. It's not "to add to the experience". (Although that is funny.) It's because different people have different interests. Some of our members don't care about variants or even new books and others don't care about Silver or Golden age books. Our goal is to give everyone a good experience.
For $50 or less than $1/week we update hundreds of prices, add hundreds of books, keep collections list safe, write blog posts, update social media, update the app with a barcode scanner, and a million other things. For the cost of one comic, we do this for you each month. Trust me, we aren't getting rich! I hope that helps, Ron edited by ronbatman on 12/26/2019 |

New Update to the App Coming
RonbatmanAdministrator
|
We have the new app up and functional as 400 people have downloaded it in the last 2 days. Thank you all for paying attention!
There was a minor issue with very large phones that we've already got a fix sent to Google and Apple. It might be Tuesday since most of them are off work for Christmas/New Years. If the ads are blocking your search bar that will be fixed when they approve our newest fix.
If you have any issues please don't leave low feedback, please talk to me. I will help you! I promise! We would love to have 5-star reviews for this improvement.
Finally, if a UPC isn't entered, you can enter it and it will immediately work. This is a temporary thing that skips our normal approval process but we want to really speed things up for you. Ron |

NEW FEATURE - Paying Members suggest Value Changes
RonbatmanAdministrator
|
Stephen, Regarding your question of how often, we try to look at this feature every day. You've probably noticed that I was working through the M, N, O, P, Q, R suggestions on Friday. To keep everyone happy, I'm going to do suggestions in alphabetical order. Everyone has different interests so we are receiving hundreds of suggestions. Any suggestion we receive from another price guide will be deleted so please don't do that.
Sidenote - Please remember that only the raw 9.4 changes appear on the recent value updates page. https://comicspriceguide.com/value-changes/ If someone suggests a graded book change that won't appear on that page. It will appear on your collection page though. Even if they suggest a change to a lower grade that won't appear either. So last week I increased some low-grade books, those don't appear on that page.
If you have graded information suggest it in the graded area.
We are happy that everyone is using this feature and it's making a difference in the price guide. So thank you. |

Amazing Lady Death ASM 300 Homage

As I've mentioned numerous times on the site, we don't promise any dates on approving variants. This is because we are in an unprecedented time of variant covers. The 1990's were nothing compared to today. There are books from top publishers that have 100 variants for a single book! The tiny publishers are doing the same kind of thing as well. We charge people less than $1/week to put in new books, variants, creator data, bar code scanning app, price changes. We think this is a fantastic deal for our members.
In all honesty, our lead times for variants isn't going to change. It might take up for a month or two for a variant to get approved. Our current backlog is about 300 which isn't too bad but we are in the offseason. If this is a deal-breaker for you, please let me know and I'll refund your money. I hope you will stay though. Ron |
