Overstreet puts out grading guide book, with pics, $24.95, maybe less on shopping sites:
https://www.gemstonepub.com/en/the-overstreet-guide-to-grading-comics-2016-edition .that will have the most details and images, from the main authority on comics.

CPG has a grading guide: https://comicspriceguide.com/comic-book-grading
CGC has a grading guide/scale, but very general: https://www.cgccomics.com/grading/grading-scale/

There's many other sites with Overstreet's grading definitions too (shorter text versions), a google search will show you.
You can post a good scan in the Grading forum here and let others give their opinion, but it's not super accurate to grade from scans cuz of all the defects scans won't show. https://comicspriceguide.com/forum/forum12-comic-grading-tips-and-tricks.aspx

CGC has 2 grading forums, one to post pics and ask what grade: https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/forum/42-hey-buddy-can-you-spare-a-grade/ . They have lots of experienced people there, and have grading contests too.
and another for grading/resto info and questions, with good info on the pinned threads: https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/forum/27-comic-book-grading-and-restoration-issues/

SCANS are better than camera pics, but if a camera is all you have, that'll have to do. Always note stuff that's hard to see, like light stains, finger/thumb kinks, stress wrinkles on white covers, spine kinks that don't break color but the ''divot'' is there, tears that might blend in well, spine splits, etc.

Good luck on 'em.

Death's Head titles are by Marvel UK, so they're under UK in the Country drop down menu. #4 is here:
https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/incomplete-deaths-head/4/pouuh

when you get no search results, there's a paragraph under that with search tips that says, "No results? Try these tips: Are you looking at the right country? Try changing the search to "All Countries". Your search may have been published outside the USA." nobody seems to see that for some reason.

it's under the Specials tab under the 1975-1981 series, UNDER CANADA for the country.

always try a search on All Countries when you can't find something. Many titles and publishers switch countries over the years. My search tips also note "Annuals, Specials, hardcovers, trade paperbacks, Free Comic Book Day/FCBD for regular series are usually not listed separately, but sometimes are, so mostly they're under the regular series name, click that, then click the appropriate tabs to see those issues."

that'll be the usual tree-fiddy for the 2nd help.

Missing Action Comics Vol. 1 No 397 DC Superman

sounds like you're brand new to comics. The publisher of Action Comics is DC, the TITLE of that series is Action Comics, and issue number #397. The Secret of the Wheel-Chair Superman is the STORY title, and CPG doesn't have a feature to search by story title. Some sites do, like comics.org, so check that too when you can't find something here, they have multiple ways to search.

your issue is here: https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/action-comics/397/pjpujx

Inside the front cover, usually, is the publishing info at the bottom of the 1st page, called the indicia. It will state the real title of the series, and publisher, so that's where to look if the text on the cover is confusing. Reprint titles are also confusing to newbies, as often the series title is a small banner at the top, with a huge character name, or title it reprints, or story name below it, so people search on that and can't find it. Marvel Feature is one of those, DC Special Series is another, there's several more. The indicia will say Marvel Feature, not Fantastic Four or whoever is named on the bigger cover title.

Original Sin Hulk vs Iron Man

Can not seem to find this series in the database. The Trade Paper Back exists that has all four in it but not the original 4 comic books.

lokyel's url didn't hyperlink, so try this: https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/original-sin/wbqyi

scroll down to the 3.1 issues.
Guessing you're new to the site, so big tip is to always use fewer keywords when you can't find something.

'Modern' Life mags are rarely worth much these days, except for a few with major celebs or historic events or famous people. there's this thing called google, it will find you various sites with prices and people attempting to sell that issue. that auction site shows 2 sold for $6-$6.99, and asking prices are well higher, and there they sit. it's not 'old' or rare, and by now most people don't care how the mafia started. condition/mailing labels make a difference too. sorry to say it's no great find or has much value.

I think that's what CPG means on these--they're Canadian PRICE versions, not that they're published in Canada. Below the main title it says Canadian COPIES, which I take to mean copies sold in and for Canada with the Canadian price. Ronbatman can verify one way or the other.

Annuals, Specials, hardcovers, trade paperbacks, Free Comic Book Day/FCBD for regular series are usually not listed separately, but sometimes are, so mostly they're under the regular series name, click that, then click the appropriate tabs to see those issues.
So you'll have to search just Superman, wait forever for the results to load, then pick the right series/volume that annual goes with. Then click that title, then the Annual tab.

I agree, it would save a lot of loading and scrolling time if we could search by series year and/or volume. might be a big pain for them to add that to the search engine tho.

We don't have the ability to search by volume yet but you can search by UPC code.....

so zactly how to we do that? is that feature only in the app? cuz it's not on the site using a desktop that I can find. some of us old guys don't have those phones that do apps. didn't see it mentioned in the youtube search tips video either, so it should be.

you said 'yet' on the ability to search by volume, so does that mean it's being looked into? hope so. and unless you have the comic in hand, it can be tough to find large enough pics to see the UPC numbers, so like when I'm trying to help someone find a comic I don't own (which is 99% of the time), I'd have to go google it and hope to find a large enough pic to read the bar code. and there's tons of books with no bar code entered yet anyway.

and then how do we type the code in? with the spaces between the sets of numbers or not? and adding the last group that specifies the actual book, spaced or not from the main UPC numbers?

thanks Ron.

I didn't find it either, and it should be under the 1982 mini-series with the other facsimile variants, but it's not. so submitted it for you.

in the future, give more info. like Dynamic Forces Alan Davis cover, year published, etc., that makes it much easier to find on the net so we know what series to look under.

and you can submit missing variants yourself too. save a GOOD cropped-to-the-edges pic with no watermark to your computer/phone first. then go to the page that issue should be on, click on the Variants tab, click on the red 'Report Missing Variant' button in lower right after the other covers, and fill in the info boxes as best you can, and upload the pic from your computer/phone, and they'll get to it when they get to it. be patient, it may take weeks.

thanks, that seems to work. they oughta add that info somewhere. it's not intuitive to me to put the UPC number in the title box. makes more sense to use the Issue box (which I had tried earlier), because it's the ISSUE you're looking for, and the UPC numbers are for the particular issue of a title. we already know the title we're looking for.

it's not a feature that I'll use hardly at all, but least I know how to now. I'll add it to my search tips blurb too.

thanks Ron. Rimaxx had told me most of what I needed to know tho smile

I had no info to go by, and all you said was we could search by UPC, but didn't mention that was brand new or how to do it. little details.. smile

on the search by volume... you said 'we just heard the request.' I'm pretty sure I and others have requested search by volume or series year before, like years ago, and more recently. years and years ago I emailed Bryan with a list of more search options too, more like what the old Wizard comics site had, which was much better. maybe he's limited by the software tho, but the search engine here is not very sophisticated for 2020. comics.org has a very sophisticated advance search, perhaps too so, and I have found it not easy to use, but I'm not asking for something like that.

with so many reboots of series now, having a 'year' and/or volume field would be a great help. of course people may not know what year the series STARTED if they only have later issues, so they may have trouble picking a year, but that's fairly quick info to find. as long as there's an explanation that 'year' means year it started, that would really cut down on the wait time and results for searches. if you wanted to get real fancy you could use the actual year an issue was published (per the indicia), but that may take way too much time to input the info.

another nice feature Wizard had was the ability to list several issue numbers separated by commas, so you could look up a series of key issues (for 1 title) or whatever in 1 search. that was very handy, and faster than getting a huge list of a long title to paw thru, or doing multiple single searches.

so first Bryan can add the UPC search info to the FAQs and you to the videos, making sure to note that MANY issues do not have the UPC info input yet, and that members can add that info to help out.

back to you in the studio..

it's part of the Will of Iron series, #5-8: https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/warhammer-40000-will-of-iron/xnsxb#srcGroup-28
the issue you attached is #6.

this is a common problem with this title, wish Titan wouldn't title them this way. comics.org lists it as a separate mini-series tho. and note to ronbatman--why are some of this series listed as 40,000 and others are 40K? and they aren't cross-referenced that way, but should be, if you're going to buck how everyone else lists them, as 40,000 like the title says smile

after looking it up on other sites, my guess is that it's not illustrated enough for CPG to qualify as a graphic novel. the correct title is THE VIETNAM WAR A GRAPHIC HISTORY, not novel, from what I found. Google.books didn't let me see past the 1st 2 pages in their supposed 20 page preview, so I don't know what the inside looks like. But it's been out since 2009 and not listed here by now, and comics.org also doesn't list it (even search by publisher, writer and artist), so unlikely it's a 'standard' comic graphic novel format.

if you can link to some pics of the inside, an admin can tell you if it qualifies not.

yes, Warhammer Will of Iron has caused several 'can't find it' posts due to Titan naming the mini-series within the series on the covers without including Will of Iron above them.

but since there's only 12 issues, why not just add the mini-series/story title to the subtitle, as you all did with #9 (Fallen pt 1 of 4)? And add the sub-titles on each issue, not just #1 smile

Whether you can tweak the search engine to read the subtitles so they can be found, I dunno. But it would make it easier for some to find them as they can narrow their looking to the 2016 series and scroll down and MAYBE notice the subtitles.

comics.org has them listed as separate mini-series, but if you go by the numbering near the UPC code and inside, it's obvious they're numbered with the Will of Iron series, so a coin-toss for how sites will list them. If Titan had just put 'Will of Iron: Fallen/Revelations' in the titles, that would have avoided the problem, but they didn't.

thanks for fixing the 40,000/40k thing, that will help too.

so are all the pages like those? CPG requires 50% of the content to have pages like that, so if it does, then they might list it. if it is mostly comic book format like that, then curious as to why comics.org doesn't have it, but it may be too unknown and nobody's submitted it to them. Ronbatman can weigh in when he has time, I notified him.
