If you export a box to a PDF file and you have a newer version of Microsoft Word - Word will open the PDF file and you can manipulate it copy into Excel. They you can manipulate the numbers to get a cost of comics bought for each box.
KDS
Folk have has been suggesting CPG provide a feature to export Your Box directly to Excel. I am sure the programming for this is quite difficult and CPG has been reluctant to undertake this task. |

Thank you for adding the indica. This does not always wok as there were not always 12 issues per year
(Vol #) x12 + (issue Number) = Absolute Issue #
Crazy time. I have had a bunch and have a few now from 1940s and 1950s Walt Disney. You have to go to cover picture matching to find the issue.

If you go to the very bottom of the main forum page you will see a button labelsled "Home"
In the Home Forum Menu there is a Menu section for "Price Guide Research" with a sub-topic of "Database & Missing Issue Discussion If you wish to report inaccurate or missing data, you may do so here"
Assuming you have not already done this - - -
Follow the format provided to add a comics. The admins need to know the publisher, month and date published, correct title, and a photo copy of the cover.
Lots of people submit through this forum to add comics. It may take a while but they do get to it.

Just a quick note to the the admins and researchers here at CPG
I have noticed a new set of "new comics" almost every time I log in (and I log in often - at least twice a day)
You folks are doing a great job in adding lots of new (old) comics to the database.
Thank you. Kudos. Great job and much appreciated.

You can download all comics from each publisher into separate spreadsheet files (csv files) (many people use MS Excel).
It is a bit clunky from there you have to manipulate the data on your own.
Long time suggestion to export all into a .csv file or make other export improvements but admins have not gotten there yet that I know of. |

The flood of variants and our response

Ronbatman wrote:
As you know the variant issue has become overwhelming. Newsstand and direct, facsimile, foil, metal, virgin, holographic, glow-in-the-dark, bioluminescent, Mark's Jewelers, B&W, store variants, artist variants, Kickstarter, naughty and nice.
We have some great admins on the site who work behind the scenes approving things, fixing things and displaying their expertise in the comic field. Lately, we have noticed that the same people's names pop up repeatedly while others have vanished. We ran some queries on the database and found some admins aren't doing anything. Today we downgraded 7 admins to regular members. We are strongly encouraging our existing admins to work on variants. They will be working through the variant submission system.
With that in mind, please do not submit variants to my email or the forum. Use our automated system so that some people aren't jumping to the front of the line by submitting on the forum. The exception is if the title or regular issue doesn't exist in our system. We cannot expect you to submit a missing variant if the regular issue isn't there.
We ask for your patience because this is a massive issue. Last week I spent 25 hours on variants and as of yesterday, we have more variants in the system than the week before. You can help by submitting the right way. Some of you submit fantastic variants for approval: great pictures, clear descriptions and selling prices. Others submit items with bad pictures, no pictures, wrong store variants, information already in the system, personal information about how old they were when they bought the book. Seriously. Please help us, help you.
Thanks Ron |

Anyone? Is there any useful tool here for easily filtering and reviewing your collection? How about the ability to export the database for our collection?
edited by JeffGeorge on 4/9/2024
Sorting by virtual boxes can be your best friend
You can sort all Dell Comics or all Photo covers or any other criteria you choose into virtual boxes.
You can print the contents of the box with price paid, value, etc to a PDF file. You can copy the contents of the PDF or print file into a word processing program.
Hope this helps a little - really best sorting tool is the boxes.

Reviving this thread
First - top issues of each person have been on the dashboard for a while - thank you - well done.
Second - this past week my top issues now show only the top raw issues instead of all top issues.
I assume this is a feature?
Is there an expanded explanation or is this just an experiment?
Thanks

Thank you for your response. I used the quoted instructions to add comics and successfully added by DC collection. But the way to add personal scans of the comics has apparently changed. None of those I listed have my personal scan. I used your link and got to Gold Key Western, unfortunately it has an extremely limited library, less than 200 issues for each title, and I am unable to add my collection manually, let alone add a scan. missed seeing this reply. CPG should have a pretty good library of GK and Western, so what issues of what titles can't you find? Since I'm not a paying member, I haven't done the upload-my-own-scan thing, but plenty of other people have, so maybe one of them will chime in with newer instructions. did you try the youtube videos for that? edited by collectibleshop on 6/29/2024
Actually, I finally found a place where I could tap into the GK/Western published editions, added my own to my collection, and also managed to add a few scans. My original scans were not accepted as too big and I found I could rescan them as jpg and they would be accepted. Thank you for your response.
I often re-size my scans with photo editor program to get them under 1 Meg. Anything bigger you really are just not adding a lot of value for the amount of memory used. Memory size = dollars. |

Everytime I try to move a comic I tap "Add to Box" The Screen Goes White have to back up to clear screen. WTF My Unorganized is going to be going to overtake my other boxes. I pay yearly membership for this not only do I organize them physically I can't do it on file sorry this is getting frustrating
Not an admin but highly suggest you view the HOW TO USE CPG videos under the ABOUT selection on the main menu. This will give you step by step instructions on virtual boxes.
General info -
If you go into a specific comic you own and edit you should be able to change the box it is in (along with condition grade, notes, etc)
If you open a box or open the unorganized comics there should be a right hand column menu to change boxes.
I find it works well but may take some getting use to. Hope this helps.

Please add all publication information - year and month published, cover price, etc.
(information in the indica). Also add cover price and a cover scan.
See the "how to add" post if you need more info.
Great job requesting this one - more info will keep it from being put on hold.

For the past 24 years, we have had all of the Four Color issues separated into individual titles like Porky Pig or Donald Duck. There were hundreds of titles that included Four Color issues. As of today, all Four Color issues are in a single title.
https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/four-color/pmuw
The titles are in the comments for all 1367 books. All dates are filled in and all scans are present. Key issues have been added.
In the coming days, we will be working on a special search function for this title since it's unique and difficult for newcomers. If you have a Four Color comic in your collection, it should look much more organized now. We did not delete any issues, we just moved them so your collection total is the same.
Ron
Ron - I like this decisions. I had to gather up my (about a dozen) Four Color and put in one place in a box - but I did have a customer at the last show - they were looking for just four color comics. If they were scattered I would never have found and sold some. So this is much appreciated - there are some old school folks looking for four color comics.

Any specific reason for the increase? Is DC bringing Sarrek back? General increase from cool surrounding issues?
