Optional Smop-tional..... If you don't like it - don't look at it.

Don't be a dick. There are some people who may not want others knowing what is in their collection. It's called security. The first means to protect yourself from theft is not to let on to those dishonest types that you have it it.

But whatever. Nice knowing you I am outta here.

Just trying to poke at you a little in fun. Not to be taken seriously. We have both been on forums a long time.

As the others posts mention - it simply shows quantity owned in each condition. Nothing else.

Hey - I have a copy of Mr. Natural #3 - Kitchen Sink publisher.

These did not have much of an indica, but inside front cover it says "Second Print April 1978" . You have issues #3 , and 3A - #3I in the database. Perhaps it is still in work as to which one is which print. I am assuming #3A is the second print. Under #3A I was able to enter April 1978. and writer / artist Robert Crumb. Also I updated a cover scan.
I tried to enter this "Second Print" information under "Issue Facts" but am unable to do so.
Should be Bronze Age instead of Modern - perhaps Modern is just some type of in-work default. Anyway - please clarify which is which on the ten published editions in the database - I would appreciate it. If I can assist message in this forum topic or direct.
For reference - see all ten editions and pricing at CB Realms (after login).
Cover does not change until 5th Edition in 1980 when they upped the price from $1.00 to $1.25. The picture never changes - makes to hard to catalogue!!!

Hello again. These are quite a challenge to catalogue!!! I believe I have Zap #0 third print - diagonal scratch - no numbers on the pages.

Now the scratch is drawn into the background above the "A" in Zap" - correct?

I submitted the scan under Zap #0 third print - please check of correct.

Comics originally packaged with toys are ones that may have no cover price. As Niko noted, they are of minimal value.

Is it worth my while to actually go to 3 different sites to look up the going value for comics that I have posted for sale? Its so much easier to just press one button and put pre determined values on everything. I sell hot wheels and matchbox cars, trading cards and other collectibles and it seems all I do is research research and research some more on values. Its kinda nice to have it set. My gut tells me to research them. I just want to know if I am foolish for going on automatic. I sound like I rookie. This is the first time selling comics but I had been collecting for over 30 years then someone stole my whole collection I have been kicking rocks ever since that. I just cant get over it! GRRRR. So what I have left are just the ones I forgot about in my closet. It pains me to even think about my collection. I hope they are being taken care of. Yea right. hehe Being taken care of at the nearest place to sell them. Well anyhow thats me and where I am coming from its nice to be here and thanks for having me here! Bump

Quote a string of bad luck. I wish you have a more blessed path in the future.

For more expensive comics I check Overstreet prices, one another guide site and a big online retailer. (Message me if you need the details). There is some difference of opinion on comics from the 1960's and 1970's - usually in mid to lower grades. Different Guides use different formulas and can arrive at slightly different prices. I find eBay is a poor indicator because of the "free" listing - you can list what ever you want for what ever price you want - too much stuff there that never sells. Big stores with employees doing nothing all day seem to do this simply for the free advertisement value. Just IMHO. KDS

BLOG: Hot Comics for Spring 2019

I do apologize in advance for being a bringing up a minor item in an otherwise excellent Blog.

However, The Blog says the First Huntress is Huntress #1 (April 1989)
http://blog.comicspriceguide.com/2019/02/22/hot-comic-books-for-spring-2019/

Actually the first Huntress was in DC Super Stars Dec 1977
https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/dc-super-stars/17/ujpsb . This book is going up fast in value if it is in top condition.

Hope this helps. KDS

BTW - You might Spider-Ham. Anything with Spider-Ham is heating up even after the animated Spider-verse movie.

An average copy of "What The..?!" #3 just sold for over $10 on eBay. (SOLD not listed). I would cry but I cannot stop laughing that this character who started in marvel's Star imprint (I think - correct me if I am wrong) would be even remotely popular. The whole character was Marvel's joke to themselves.

Grading a William Woolfolk owned Batman 57

kds_comics
kds_comics
This is a case where it would be worth getting the comic restored. This is assuming the restored book could grade in the 6.0 range.

Currently it would grade at 1.5 at best - about $100. (Plus it is incredibly hard to sell in this condition !!!) If it was 6.0 it would be $500. Graded 6.0 would be $855.
If it was graded - even with "restoration" label - (discounting for restoration) - price would be some where between $500 and $855.

This is what I would do - you are welcome to choose your own path.

Yes - two options here -

1) Get it pressed and graded as is - it is a novelty, but does not add any significant value in addition to the comic value. Maybe it as $10 to a $300 comic.

2) Remove the outer cover and either sell it separately to someone who needs one (hard) or use for a craft project.

I got stuck with an extra cover that had no comic in Blackhawk #159. I made a clock out of it. (CPG picture for reference)

Just to let your know a copy of "What the..?I" #3 in VF/NM just sold for $18 on eBay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/WHAT-THE-3-VF-NM-1988-SPIDER-HAM-MARVEL-COMICS-/183560918446?_trksid=p2047675.m43663.l10137&nordt=true&rt=nc&orig_cvip=true

This is absolutely crazy for a throw-away character. The Spider-Verse is truly mad... Just IMHO. KDS

It's right here.
https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/machine-man/scyr

Click on the "Annual" tab Right of the "Issues" tab to find your book.

Hope that helped.

This one is a little harder to find because it is a volume 2. It should say volume 2 in the publication data (Indica)

Basement - I am sure folks here may get tired of explaining this, but you have to look at the publication data, not the cover or the picture on the cover.

Lots of re-prints and store re-prints that have minimal value. Yours may be valuable, but it is too time consuming to try to match up pictures.

Suggest you provide more data on each book. Thanks

Since lots of older silver age books shipped with bar codes, is there a way to know better understand when direct actually started so that duplicate work isn't sent your (CPG) way?
Thanks

The Direct Market comics really began in 1979 with the proliferation of comic book specialty stores. There were comic specialty stores before 1979, but they were buying from multiple sources. More information here
https://rarecomics.wordpress.com/2015/11/08/comic-book-newsstand-editions-understanding-the-difference/
and here
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct_market#1980s
Publishers were selling comics with bar codes to news stands (e.g. Books A Million, Barnes and Noble, convenience stores, etc.) while ones without bar codes were send direct to Comic Specialty Stores and direct customers who ordered a subscription.
Somewhere in the process bar code comics were sent to both to newsstands and comic specialty stores. So only subscription comics had no bar code.
I dislike the fact that the collector's seem to think it is a "big deal".
My opinion: except in rare (one in ten thousand) cases, there is no value difference. So why go through the incredible amount of work to add something that is simply a distribution chain difference, not a "real" difference. Just IMHO. Here is a link to today's "Subscription versus Newsstand" You tell me what the difference in value is of these two boxes...

I believe the first issue is related to copying and pasting from Word. They have spaghetti code and when you paste it, some of that "spaghetti" comes out.

The other issues that you mention, we will look into.
R

I concur with collector that the first issue is real.
If you first create a classified ad title - hand type or copy and paste - it is GOOD.

If you edit the ad - the title gets ampersands in place of "space" between words. Perhaps this is an SQL thing.

Hello all,

You've probably heard this repeated a thousand of times, but here it goes again. Due to a recent death in the family, we were settling an estate, we ran across boxes of comics. I won't bore you with that mass of paper, but there were some that got me thinking that I need to check into. Some are the .10 cent comics, some he had specially stored, one is Jetta, we found 3 of volume 5, 2 volume 6 and 2 of the volume 7. Should I explore trying to grade and find a good home? Thanks for any and all help.

You can PM me direct here - I would be interested in assisting.
