Huh. Didn't know this was a thing. It's something different, so I can see how some people would collect them. They personally do not interest me though.

WHY ARE SIGNED COMICS BEING LISTED AS VARIANTS

glorkar

It's not all signed books.
Dynamic Forces sort of gets grandfathered in for some reason.
But I agree, the cover is the cover. Shouldn't matter if a shop (even one as reputable as DF) is certifying a signed copy.

I've found reference to the book on another site (still don't know which one's we aren't supposed to mention) and a couple of listings on the Bay.
Here's a copy of the front and back of the book.

It's under the wrong series then. I've attached pics of the variant covers from the Reprint edition as well as The Core.

It still fits the criteria to be entered, but with limited distribution it makes it less of a priority than the mass market books. I'm sure the database peeps will get to it eventually.

It doesn't look like any books from Still Ill Princess are listed here yet (Sugar Pop, Lil Six Kannibal Kitty, Sad Girl Psycho Baby).

On that last book, the "Number 3" indicates Wizard Ace #3 then? Or is it Strangers in Paradise #3? I can see how this one was tricky. If it's SiP 3, then isn't it listed as a variant under the wrong issue?

Are they collectible? Sure.
Are they comic related? Sure.
Are they comics? Nope.

I understand how it'd be nice, but this is a comic book price guide / database. They simply don't fit within the parameters to be included. Realistically, the ones that are currently in the system should be deleted to clear up the confusion.

Of course, this is all just my opinion.

Someone's antsy, lol. Free Comic Book Day isn't for another few days, so technically this book hasn't been released yet. Give the guys some time after the weekend and I'm sure they'll get it in the database.

If I'm being honest with myself, I prefer Image to Marvel and DC. There is a lot more diversity and variety in their books. I think other media (TV and film) tend to promote Marvel and DC because they have characters that more people know. It's not worth their investment in something that /may/ have a more limited audience.

I'd have to check my copy, but I might actually agree with Jayc13. It should not be a variant of Strange Academy 1 if it contains a different story. If it's a reprint of #3, then it really should be listed as a variant there, regardless of the issue number on the cover.

So what's everyone's thoughts on w0rldtr33?
I loved it. I'm a sucker for anything about the dark side of the internet. It's got tons of gore and nudity (which is strange for a mainstream publisher). I like where the story is headed though. Definitely gives off SIKTC vibes, but even darker.
I think Tynion might have another best seller on his hands here.

If they are going by the indicia on this one, then it should be a standalone listing, as the title is listed as "Strange Academy No. 1 Halloween Trick-Or-Read 2022". It explicitly states that it's a one-shot that reprints #3.

That was the whole reason I picked up that issue of Image!. I remember being a little disappointed with the preview, tbh. Still decided to give the actual series a shot though. Glad I did.
Do you remember if the preview was extra / different material? Or if it got reprinted in issue one? If it's different, and the series really takes off, that might be a book to look out for.

Free Comic Book Day Is A Joke Now

I don't know. I never went to a fcbd before about 5 years ago, so I don't know what it was like "back in the day" or anything.
But comic shops have to order and buy the books. They have never been free to them. But it's a marketing expense. When a consumer gets something for free, they tend to spend a little something something to feel like they aren't cheating the business. Or maybe they'll be inspired to keep coming back.
Anyway, that's off topic.
Certain books are always going to have a lower print run. Either because not that many were ordered, or they just can't pump out the volume.
I don't know what books you are desperately trying to get, but I can guarantee you that I can walk in to any of the three comic shops within 30 miles of my house and find oodles of Spider-Man / Venom and Avengers / X-Men.

Well you don't know then and don't give the lesson "They weren't free" DUH! I know about 4-5 people that own comic stores so stop..

And since I have experience in dealing with FCBD since 2002 and in no time were these the circumstances:

1.PLENTY of comics to go around for days after which means thousands maybe miilions of copies were made
2.Those "Free" Comics to this date go for $3-5 and most of them $1
3.And about find oodles of Spider-Man / Venom and Avengers / X-Men...yes REGULAR comics books NOT FCBD Understand now???
4.And is the past 2 years it seems like the print runs were cut down and "certain websites" know this but doesn't let anyone else know....why?
5.I actually saw a list of "Gold" and "Silver" comics out of the 52 free comics and those 8-10 are the one's going for $$$ on E-Bay? Coincidence I don't think so

So if your one of those people that think that "Free" comics should only be available on E-Bay for a marked up price 2 days after the event and alot of people either not getting the comics or the store not getting enough of certain book then you really don't care about how FCBD works and it has become a joke..

1. Might be exaggerating a bit there with the millions remark. But yeah, certain titles definitely have a pretty high print run.
2. Just because they were free to get at the time, doesn't mean they always stay free. Most comics never stay valued at cover price.
3. And I was specifically talking about the FCBD issues of Spider-Man / Venom and Avengers / X-Men. Those two titles have massive print runs for FCBD every year.
4. Not sure what to say about this.
5. Gold and Silver are the sponsor levels. You can see the breakdown on https://www.freecomicbookday.com/catalog every year. The only books that aren't Gold or Silver are DC books, since they don't list on the official site.

I totally agree that this should be a fun event to get people interested in the hobby. And it would be nice if there was enough of every title printed so that everyone that wanted one could get one.
But since that isn't reality, supply and demand in a kicks in. Some books had less printed. Some people got those books. Other people want those books, so some of the people that have them are willing to sell them.
I truly don't know if you feel bad that you missed out on a certain title, or if you feel bad that you missed out on a "free" book that is now worth $25 so you feel cheated.

It has the subtitle, but not the (FCBD 2023) after the main title.

I believe this is the comic you are have: https://ausreprints.net/issue/9/311
Looks like it's an Australian reprint.
We have some the series here: https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/supermans-supacomic/scvyo but most of them are missing covers.

If I had to guess, that issue is sort of a trade paperback collecting all of their issues.
