Saw this in the "verify price" and it just seemed off.

Looks like it's already in the system with the correct title here:

I don't tend to watch a lot of regular television in general. I just jumped on ABC's site to see what shows they even have. Can say with all honesty that I have no desire to watch a single one of them.

both of those have mycomicshop watermarks, so can't use 'em. I already found those too.

Sorry about that. The watermark was so unobtrusive that I didn't even see it tucked away in the corner.

A graded 9.8 sold on eBay in Nov for $370.00
A graded 9.8 sold on eBay in Dec for $105.00
Could not find any ungraded sold signed copies. Unsigned went for between $10-20.
Big gap. So pretty much it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
if you do get it graded, you might want to use CBCS. CGC will not verify the sig, they'll just note that there is marker on the cover.

Found a copy of #4 in the dollar bin today. Saw that it's a reprint issue so I did a little digging. These might make some nice notes on the issues.

Action Comics #232 ("The Riddle of the Space Rainbow)

Action Comics #239 ("The Toys That Stopped Space Crime")
https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/legion-of-super-heroes/2/vkyq
.
Legion of Super-Heroes volume 1 #3 contains reprints from:
Adventure Comics #340 ("Computo the Conqueror!")
Action Comics #240 ("The Trial of Tommy Tomorrow")

Trade vs Virgin Variant Covers

For me it's about the art. If there are different images on the two, I'll grab the one that appeals to me the most. If they are the same image but one doesn't have the trade dress, I'll usually opt for the cheaper of the two.

I always feel strange about adding there. On a few in the past I've just put the title of the story that appears. On others I'll type in the little intro blurb in the book if it has one. I've seen more than a few on here that have what looks like a full complete story summary there.
I guess what I'm saying is I'm not sure what the admins are looking for in that section. In my mind, I saw this info as like a subtitle on those issues (like where you see some 1st appearances noted).

And if you really want to make things confusing, don't forget about minimal trade covers. They still have the title and issue number and all that, but it's significantly smaller and tucked off to the side.

1st Appearances of Marvel Characters

To be fair, it's a perfectly reasonable ask. Could have been phrased different. Maybe "Have you been able to find this information again?" or something like that.
The more comprehensive this site is, the better, no?
1st Appearances are listed in the "Characters" section of the "Price Guide" drop down menu from the main site. Just pick a publisher and type in a name.
It's still a work in progress though. Once it gets more populated, it will be very convenient.

Updating Creators & Verifying Data

I'm just another user of the site, so take the following as you will:
.
Yes, Penciller is the same as Artist. They are the main person creating the images.
For Colorist and Letterer, I'll only add an entry if there is a specific name listed. If it's just a studio, I'll pass putting it in.
For Editor, I add the Editor, Assistant Editor and Associate Editor. I do not add the Group Editor or Editor in Chief.
.
I think it's perfectly acceptable to enter / verify creators on variants using the information from one of the others (cover and upc excepted).
.
Book in hand always works best for verifying information. However, using verified sites works as well. These could be the publisher's websites or even comics.org.
.
For cover price, I use the image shown on here. If it's too small or unclear, I'll jump over to comics.org or eBay to look for a larger / clearer picture.
.
That's my two cents. I'll let others join in for their points of view smile

When You Happen On A Book You've Been Looking For

So I've been checking the local shops and eyeing some auctions online for Batman #1 (new 52). The book's pretty hot so it's tough to find in good shape for a decent price.
I was at my LCS picking up my books for the week and decided to check out the "wall books". These are the higher dollar, incentive or key books they showcase and typically list on eBay.
Wouldn't you know it, tucked up in the corner is the gem I've been looking for. 1st print. Amazing shape (at least 9.6, maybe even 9.8)! $35 sticker.
I just sort of stood and stared at it for a couple minutes thinking that there was no way I was that lucky.
But I really was. They had just put it out a couple days ago and didn't even have a chance to post it online yet.
.
So that's my little key book found story. I know, not very exciting for most. But it sure made my month.
.
Anyone else have any key / grail book find stories?

Just got a copy of this Fantastic Four #60, the "Not for Resale" version.

When I was looking it up, I plunked in "mister fantastic" 60 (because the cover kind of looks like it says that) in the search and found this: https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/mister-fantastic/60/scxwkr

But when I looked at the indicia, it clearly states "fantastic four" 60, which is listed here: https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/fantastic-four/60-MLEGD/wbvsks

Antique shops can be gold mines. A lot of times they put books out in bulk and just keep poor records of what they have. I've got a couple of larger antique malls near me that have been very good to me with comics.

Origin Stories - Not Quite What You Thought

glorkar

Movies and Television have brought great exposure to comic books and characters. Marvel has done an amazing job introducing heroes and villains to a brand new group of people who may not have known they existed before.
.
Growing up, I followed certain characters, but was completely oblivious to others.
.
Here's my origin story surprise.
.
Star-Lord. Didn't know he was a thing until the movies came out.
Just got my hands on a copy of Marvel Spotlight #6. Let me just say, I was blown away by how different the origin story was.
.
Movie version (spoiler, but if you haven't seen it yet, that's on you!):
A god / sentient shapeshifting planet mates with a mortal on Earth. He leaves. She gives birth. Years later, he hires people to bring son to him. Couriers keep son and train him as a Ravager. Son kills father.
.
Book version:
Human looking spaceman crashes on Earth. Woman nurses him back to health. He leaves. She gives birth. Years later, spaceman's enemies come to Earth and kill woman. Kid grows up to be astronaut. In space, he is teleported to the god of the Sun. Sun god turns him into a Star-Lord. He can fly, breath in space, speak every language and has a gun that shoots elements. He was given a sentient, shape-changing thing that most often looks like and acts like a star ship.
Years later, the spaceman's enemies are attacking the Sun god. Star-Lord saves him, but he doesn't want to be saved. Turns out he's a lizard man himself. While he was making Star-Lord, he neglected his real job. Basically, his bosses fired him because he wasn't doing what he should be. So instead of a whole slew of Star-Lords, he was only able to make the one.

I can't tell from the solicit, is this just going to be a sort of continuation from the Beyond storyline? Seems odd otherwise that Doc Ock is so involved in each.

Wonder why this book gets a second print. There hasn't been a second print on any books in the series since issue 3. Are they just pushing Gaslamp? I get that it's his first cover, but his first appearance was in issue #13.
