I've been getting into contributing more by updating Creators on the issues I have and helping to verify data, but it would be helpful if there was a bit more guidance around the level of detail and the guidelines. For example:
Creators Alternative Names: When someone is credited as a "Penciler", for example, does that go in as an "Artist"? How do other alternate titles match up to your fields? Scope: Especially with positions like "Editor", would we go with just the one credited editor, or all alternative listed editors (e.g. associate editor, assistant editor, etc...)
Verifying Data Is the expectation that data is verified based on "hands on book" visual verification, or can we use common sense reasoning verifying this information. A couple of examples: - If the cover price is being verified, and the uploaded cover clearly shows the cover price, then the cover price could be verified by that, right? ... assuming the uploaded cover is accurate to begin with - If variant A has confirmed creators and we're looking at confirming creators for variant B of the same issue, then it seems like we could use the confirmation from A to confirm B creators for all creators save for the Cover Artist
Things like that. If there were just a bit more guidance, maybe a blog post or a video or something going into some of this stuff, I'd probably be more effective at contributing to the data.
Just a thought

I'm just another user of the site, so take the following as you will: . Yes, Penciller is the same as Artist. They are the main person creating the images. For Colorist and Letterer, I'll only add an entry if there is a specific name listed. If it's just a studio, I'll pass putting it in. For Editor, I add the Editor, Assistant Editor and Associate Editor. I do not add the Group Editor or Editor in Chief. . I think it's perfectly acceptable to enter / verify creators on variants using the information from one of the others (cover and upc excepted). . Book in hand always works best for verifying information. However, using verified sites works as well. These could be the publisher's websites or even comics.org. . For cover price, I use the image shown on here. If it's too small or unclear, I'll jump over to comics.org or eBay to look for a larger / clearer picture. . That's my two cents. I'll let others join in for their points of view edited by glorkar on 1/28/2022

Glorkar did a nice job describing what he does, I would add a few clarifications.
Colorist and Letterer, studios are often in the database if you choose to add them. Editor, we don't have a specific position on which editors are added. We might change that later to a more specific version, Editor, Assistant Editor, etc. There are a million other things that we are working on so probably not anytime soon.
If you only add one piece of information, that is more than most members will ever add. We are appreciative for all good entries. Ron

That makes sense, and what Glorkar is doing matches some of what I've started doing on the verification side, I've just been a little uncertain whether that meets the desired quality control standard. Thanks for the additional clarification on everything. edited by glarimer on 1/28/2022
