From what I can remember, it was Spidey Super Stories, got a subscription, waited anxiously at the mail box for em to arrive!! What got me started was Marvels Secret Wars, I was stationed in North Carolina in the mid eighties and at the unit I was assigned to, there was a magazine rack that had I think 3 issues of Secret Wars, wanted to read the whole series, that's what got me started. There were two LCS in Havlock, NC. Started buying the series so I could read it, then onto Spectacular Spider-Man (loved the covers) should have got Amazing Spider-Man, but what did I know at the time. By the time I got out in 88, I had 8 long boxes full, mostly marvel, but some DC, and 25,000 books later!! My wife thinks I am nuts!! |

I am curious as to how the new legacy numbering works for the new Marvel issues.
Mainly, take for instance the Punisher series. Latest legacy number is like 229, but is there a way to determine which volumes make up the numbering and in what order. Some are listed as Punisher, others Punisher, The and another as Frank Castle, The Punisher.
Some are obvious, Like Amazing Spider-man. Pretty straight forward.
Others, not so much
Captain America starts at #100, previously tales of suspense 1 - 99, but is the numbering from Tales of Suspense included in the legacy numbering for Captain America, latest issue being Volume 10 #3 (Legacy 707)
The Punisher series are the most troublesome, there are so many different volumes and runs, its hard to track
I only ask, because as I upgrade my comic room and shelving/storage, I want to put in order, as much as possible, each of the main series, ie Spider-man. Hulk, Avengers, Teen Titans, Batman (yes DC even has some odd way of running things) so an and so forth.
Any suggestions or is just gonna be look at the series dates, volume numbers etc. and decipher it from there?

Whenever I sell comic books, I usually use a good padded envelope, with two pieces of heavy cardboard on either side, bout a half inch bigger then the book, comic taped to one and then both pieces taped together, protects the corners from getting bumped when in shipment. If its just 1 to 3 comics, it generally cost about 4 bucks, give or take a few cents, using first class priority, w shipping confirmation, then I write in big letters on both side "Do Not Bend". Sold quite a few that way thru Ebay, and haven't had a bad feedback yet. More then 5 or so, a flatrate mailer would be better, because your shipping cost are going to go up for weight, just pack the comics the same way, and use crumbled up paper or packing peanuts to cushion the books.

After going thru the legacy number from planet comics, provided by Marvel, I think they have their numbering off. I couldn't find where they included the following two series:
PUNISHER, THE
2001-2004 | Volume 6 | Marvel Knights | 36,412 Searches Volume 4 in indicia.
PUNISHER, THE
2004-2009 | Volume 7 | Marvel | 38,907 Searches Title becomes Punisher: Frank Castle MAX w/ issue #66 |

I don't think so, I built a spreadsheet so I could accurately follow along, and it isn't possible to included those two series with what they have provided as their numbering order, kinda like amazing Spider-Man, some issues are 19.1 and 20.1 on one of the series, are those considered variants, or regular issues for that numbering order. I am soooo confused!!!! lol |

Here is another discrepancy with Marvel Legacy Numbering. Its Incredible Hulk, the attached picture shows Legacy Numbering beginning with Tales to astonish as 1 thru 101 before switching to Incredible Hulk Vol 2. But where is Incredible Hulk Vol 1 1 thru 6 (May, 1962), which is somewhere in the middle of the Tales to Astonish time line (1959-1968). Im thinking that Marvel needs to relook at just how they are doing this, but I haven't the faintest idea as to whom one would even tell!! lol

Savage88, when you look for a title, there is a box that autosets to USA, when you click the drop down arrow, it will list all countries that produce comics or some other such media, UK is one of the available selections

Radiotto, I gave a box of about 300 older comics, mostly marvel tales, a few others from different publishers, etc, used, beat up, not worth anything really, to the Mercys Children Hospital in Wichita, KS, they go thru the books and separate them out by age group. The have to be careful because a lot of the books cant be givin to kids in say ICU, etc, due to the books not being clean. But it was a good feeling to donate them. Didn't get a dime, no receipt, gained not one Iota from them. And I am perfectly ok with that!
