Conflicting Publish Dates - Which to use?

I am pretty sure we have had this discussion but which should be used for the publish dates? I am validating the publish date for GHOST RIDER: TRAIL OF TEARS #1 (https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/ghost-rider-trail-of-tears/1/tiwumw). User Black Dragon Comics listed the publish date as April 2007 which is validated by the Marvel Wikia (http://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Ghost_Rider:_Trail_of_Tears_Vol_1_1) but conflicted by the Marvel website (https://www.marvel.com/comics/issue/5944/ghost_rider_trail_of_tears_2007_1) which claims the publish date as Feb. 2007.

Which is to be used in this case (IMO Marvel website)?

I am not sure what database or comic to which you are referring but different sites have different algorithm based on different data. Most of the time it is based on either ebay sales data or internal site sales data. Would be nice to know what they base the value on if they inflate it to drive user-ship. If you wish to have an over inflated unrealistic collection worth then you may want to go to the other database.

When I say sales data I mean actual sold items not the average of what unsold items. I can flood the auction sites with an item with an inflated price, never sale any and then the value would be inflated because it is based on auction prices not actual sold items.

I agree, the true value of any title is what someone is willing to pay not what someone thinks it is worth.

I know this would be low priority but would be very helpful in verifying new data. I would like a way to filter out data I have submitted (since I cannot approve or deny) or data I have already approved or denied. This of course should be a checkbox or toggle.

Currently there are over 1000 items in the verify data section items in which I cannot do anything (either already validated or I submitted). When I see there is new items I have to go through each publisher and starting letter to find items I can verify. These filters would speed up the process.

Yes and No, As a developer yes it would be possible but not practical. You would have to aggregate all that data on a daily basis for over 1 million issues, archive this into historical data and run calculations on that data at the time of request. The resources needed to do this would not be feasible for a small company/website. You would need an enterprise level data center and probably have to pay for / license that kind of data access.

As a developer I see this all the time. I am currently working for a company that is struggling to maintain market share because they have been complacent. Developers come and go or have no desire to upgrade or add new features. It's too bad cause you have the ability to add a few features that may already be partially implemented.

Add barcode lookup (already have the field on the screens and probably the database.
Add standard csv exports not the formatted Excel files. It is hard to maintain multiple applications.
Maybe Add the ability to print box labels or other labels.

I would love to be able to use your API to build a windows/mac version that would allow the ability to create bar code labels for the comics and boxes to make it easy to know what/where an item is. There is so many things that could be done.

I am in the process of deciding if I will renew this year or move to a new service. It's nice to know the value, but to me it is better to know what and where everything is.

Would it be possible to add a "location" field...a note section where we can state where the issue is located? For example, Comic Box 1 or even CGC box 1?

Just curious.

Boxes are already built in. So I assume you mean on the search screen.

On the side bar menu from anywhere you can click the "My Comic Boxes" link.

On the side toolbar from the volume or issue detail screen you can also add notes, qty, grade and price. You can also add boxes and run's.

On the side toolbar from the search screen you can also add notes, qty, grade and price. This would be great to add the box location as well.

Playing devils advocate I can see where the decision was made to leave this off the search screen and default the box to Unorganized as to not accidentally put it in the wrong box because of the user selecting this and not changing it. Personally, I am usually dealing with one box at a time.

I stand corrected. I have seen sales feedback module (I believe we discussed the last year sometime). I read the announcement about the variants and even noticed a few things here and there. I am more frustrated than anything because I have recently been trying to reorganize. When I have several hundred issues in a box that is mixed publishers and titles it takes a couple of hours to enter this in. The new system I have looked at uses barcodes and with a scanner I can enter half the box in about 10-15 minutes and then go back and do the ones with no bar codes by hand. There is another system that will print barcodes labels which I can print and scan. I just wish there was one system that had most of these features already. I love this system and know with some conversations with you Ron via email you are driving for new development. I guess I have to suck it up and maintain multiple systems.

This year we have done numerous upgrades to the site.
We have organized the variant covers to a more useable format.
We've increased the speed of the site.
We've done a complete remodel.
We added Amazon links for trades.
We've added a sales feedback systems.
We've added features to allow the admins to copy creators and stories.

Those are the things off the top of my head. Because of these things we've seen a 35% increase in users for this month!!! and 25% for last month.

How about adding a few User Defined Fields to the collections screens. Basically just a varchar(50) field that is labeled User Field 1, User Field 2, etc. This would allow use to put information we could use for the hopefully one day created simple CSV export.

This would allow us to maybe a collection software id, a bar code, etc.Of course this does no good unless it is searchable some how.

@Imatonkatoo - All you have to do is change the .com to .co.uk so

https://www.amazon.com/gp/search/ref=as_li_qf_sp_sr_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=comicspricegu-20&keywords=978-0785185321&index=aps&camp=1789&creative=9325
would be

Currently on CPG You can export to ".csv" file by publisher - but I find I get my comics 'for sale' and 'not for sale' are all lumped together.

How? I only see exports for xls excel format. I am talking about a straight "comma separated values" file.

As a programmer, It really isn't that big of a security issue because the site is an ASP.Net and it has built in protections for most forms of injection and csrf attacks.

As for bar codes, I would write the code myself and gladly hand it over. I have already written some myself (displayed bar code verses scanned bar code cause sometimes the check digit is not included on the label but is in the bar code).

As far as back filling the data we can discuss how to do this. With the modern issues that has EAN-13 or UPC-A with supplemental 5, you can back into these because they are a standard format. I also have some extra bar code scanners I would ship to some of the larger collectors on here if they were willing to scan bar codes.
