Thanks Ron - what an awesome opportunity and adventure! I would love to pick up a #62 and #238 if it has the tattoo insert. They are probably too expensive but would love to hear if they have a 50, 100, and 129.
Are you going there with the objective of filling holes in your collection and grabbing keys. Or looking to potentially load up the car with 15 long boxes. |

How often are these charts updated? It does not appear that it is real time. I just input skull digger and skeleton boy issue 2, the variant. I saw that prior to ,self there was 1-2 active users that had a couple of 9.4. To test the functionality I entered a 9.8 and it did not reflect on the charts. |

What is Wolverine's first appearance?

I grew up with 181 being the key book that everyone wanted. Fair or not that is in my opinion the de-facto first appearance. I always ask myself which issue would I rather have a 180 or 181 and that is an easy decision. |

Updating Comic Values

I have submitted numerous comic value updates in the last month and feel that my request goes into this limbo area. I understand that there is probably a long queue of items that need to be updated. However, what about allowing the community to update the prices similar to the help validate option? You submit a price and it requires 10 points to get added to the site. Or is it more complicated cause you have to figure all of the carious prices not just a NM version for example. |

Yes, i make sure to include a recent ebay sold link to each submission. I am sure they have a bunch to update, but certainly the process could be improved or others could help in the process. Overall its Pretty Pretty Pretty Good....from Curb your enthusiasm.
I am not actively selling books for the fluctuations in price don't impact me as much at this point. |

Updating Comic Values

Hello Ron, I would like to understand the queue process and how updates are made. My sumptuous is that as updates are requested they go into a queue and an admin reviews and accepts/denies. I may be wrong but that is what I envision. I don’t know the number of updates received but let’s say they are substantial.
- I sent a request today/yesterday that I see has been updated. How did this jump updates that I have been sending for the last couple of weeks that again are in some limbo area. How does that happen and where are the other updates.
- What is the service level agreement to get updates made. As paying members can we expect a week..more than a week..less than a week.
- If an update is accepted or denied how is a user to know? Are my submittals lost or will they be made one day? Do I need to submit? You indicate a red pending status on creator info maybe the same for prices.
- If you need more admins I am 100 percent certain that we will help.
Not trying to be a pain just trying to understand the process. |

Problem Seller
Imcubillo
|
Thanks Ron for the post. I have been an active member here for a little over month and have come to greatly value the exiting market place. During that time I have made three large bulk orders testing out the system and everything has been great. Actually will be a repeat buyer from several sellers....in actuality the main problem is that there are too many sellers and not enough money.
I believe I found the seller you mentioned and put bids on a league number of books, along with other sellers we bid back and forth just to have the bids cancelled. I emailed the seller thinking this was an error on my side...after watching something for 3 or 4 days it is so annoying to see this happen.
So I certainly applaud you for being active and watching this activity and prohibiting the practice.
Thanks |

Mine carry both the DC and Marvel books. The only bad thing about the Marvel books is that you have no idea what 2 of the 3 books are since they are all shrink wrapped. The condition of the books can also be a crapshoot. |

Seller's comic grading
Imcubillo
|
I think just like Ebay marketplace you have to take a small leap of faith and hope that individuals are honest with their valuations. Grades are a tricky thing and are very subjective. I have only been around for a month and have made several purchases and have been happy with my purchases. I recommend to start out slow and find sellers that have received positive feedback from other buyers. The positive feedback to me indicates that the seller is delivering based on what they have posted on their respective comics. So individuals with positive feedback are representing accurate sales/grades.
I have also seen that the admins here will stop individuals if unwanted practices are being followed. That is nice to know as well. Good luck. |

Marvel VS DC!
Imcubillo
|
Based on the stats from my collection i have a ratio of about 5-1 in favor of marvel. I try to make a point to branch out and try DC stuff and at times it feels daunting since i have not followed the history of the characters as closely as marvel. I will say there are some great things coming out of DC which i would Marvel would consider for their own label:
- Now dead but Vertigo always produced great mature content that did not fall into the superhero realm - DC Black Label produces some awesome stories and the format of the books is great and very high quality in my opinion - DC is doing it the right way, when we have a 80-100 page book, lets get a square bound spine - I hate that Marvel still uses a regular spine on these giant books and keeping a nice copy together is a pain in the butt
I also think that historically DC has had much better self contained graphic novel stories than marvel as i can think of so many iconic graphic novels from DC and not as many from Marvel = Watchmen, Dark Knight, Killing Joke, Red Son.... |

Generic Comic selling Question
Imcubillo
|
I would think that you grade the ones that make sense from a monetary standpoint. The whole pressing and grading process will be about $30 something per book plus shipping. So in my opinion you take that into account. If you have a $100 raw book and yours is in what appears to be prestige shape that when rated it becomes a $500 book then monetary the $30 bucks makes sense. Same thing for older golden age books that may be in lower grades. Start with your big boy money books and work your way down, |

How do you define a first appearance?
Imcubillo

A lot of times Previews magazines will have a brief 4-5 pages of an upcoming book. I haven’t looked but have any ever been considered valuable as they would show a character several months before the appearance.
I love to flip through them and throw them out. |
