I know we've talked about Marvel Walmart books before and it seems like SOME of the books get attention, Captain Marvel, Black Widow, but with only 3,568 stores and these stores only getting 2-3 copies of said variants, and especially with all the speculators out there, Why do you suppose the prices haven't skyrocketed as a variant with an extremely low print run?

Edited to Add Marvel to the title and original post because I believe there was some confusion.

I think it may be because most are reprints.

I guess, but they aren't listed as such. None of them say "second printing". I can see a low demand for a comic that just has a different colored logo, but the ones with new artwork should be skyrocketing. Artgerm and Nauck and Lim variants? idk.

They're not listed/marked as second prints because they're not 2nd prints of a previous COMIC, just stories, and multiple stories from different comics to boot, same as every other reprint title like Marvel Tales--those are not noted as 2nd prints either, nor should they be. I haven't seen the inside of one of these new giants, but I assume they note 'reprint' of the stories on the inside. The cover art is new on most I guess, and you'd think any with new stories would be higher than they are from what I saw on that auction site, but there's hundreds for sale too, and not very impressive sale prices for the majority. The way the market and info moves so fast these days, you'd think the prices for the 'hot' artist issues would already be higher than they are, but maybe there's a lot of people still unaware of these issues. Or people just don't want to pay even more for a $5 reprint comic.

You're thinking of the DC books. I guess I didn't correctly convey that I'm specifically talking about the Marvel books. They are exactly like the ones you get at your LCS but with different covers. If the Fried Pie, and Midtown (and all these others comic stores that have to order "X" amount of books to get exclusive variants) books are so hot why aren't the Walmart ones that have a print run of under 10,000?

For the record the Marvel Walmart books are usually 2-3 copies per store. The DC books that seem to pull $10-$15 or more on eBay are sometimes up to 12 copies per store.

I just lucked out today and found a bunch of Marvel books at my Walmart. I got three copies of Black Cat number one and three copies of the Symbiote Spider-Man.

The Black Cat issue has been out for a couple of weeks so it might be harder to find, but I noticed that some Walmart stores sell better than others and some titles do as well. It's pretty much a crap shoot.

They are usually in the front of the store (in my experience) up by the check out lanes where the collectible trading cards are.

Some stores don't actually carry them. My Walmart doesn't carry Rice-A-Roni, just the Great Value version. I don't know why.

Mine carry both the DC and Marvel books. The only bad thing about the Marvel books is that you have no idea what 2 of the 3 books are since they are all shrink wrapped. The condition of the books can also be a crapshoot.

I pulled a Venom First Host second print out of a pack a few months back. Most of the new ones have second print covers or variants. I pulled a few action figure variants recently and a blank cover and a cosplay variant. Nothing really valuable but you never know what issue is going to be the hot new issue tomorrow.
