I have the comic New Mutants #98 (first appearance of Deadpool) and may have the chance to have Artist/Creator Rob Liefeld sign it. I don't have it graded, but would assume the comic is in around Very Fine condition. Does anyone know a general estimate on how much value his autograph would add? How would I be able to prove the signature is authentic? If I can't prove authenticity of autograph, wouldn't that ruin the price of the comic? I would really appreciate any tips or advice on this matter.

There are a few different factors that will fluctuate within a certain price range when considering getting an autograph or already have something signed by a creator/artist/writer/etc. Not everyone likes to have any blemishes of foreign ink aside from the comic itself; hence why there are no real listings on autographed comics. Another thing to factor in is also who is autographing it like you mentioned, how popular they are as an individual, if the comic is a KEY comic, how popular the comic character and book is; and other factors that will vary on the pricing. When sending in to get it graded, sometimes they can verify the autograph and let a person know if it is actually the correct person doing the signing i hope this is helpful for starters. good luck on your choice.

Factors... 1 - Deadpool is popular now. 2 - It's his 1st appearance. 3 - Liefeld is the creator/artist. 4 - It's about a VF.
I say go for it. Make sure Rob signs it in some inconspicuous place and not right over the main artwork.
CBCS will verify the signature through a pretty cool process ( https://www.cbcscomics.com/vsp ) and give it a special "Verified Signature" case. CGC doesn't do this. They only have "Authorized Signature", which CBCS also has, and has to be witnessed by them.

I would not advise getting a comic autographed unless you are going to pay to have it professionally graded. If you have it graded through CGC, you must have the signing witnessed by them. If that's not possible, I'd recommend using CBCS to grade it for the reasons mentioned above. A signature not authenticated by a professional grading service will most likely decrease the value of the comic. I am someone who does not like writing on the cover of a comic. Signatures can also be forged/faked.
If you don't care about the value and the nostalgia factor is more important to you, then get it signed and don't worry about what it's worth. If I just want a reminder that I met someone famous, I'll have them sign something (anything). I've bought things from creators and specifically asked that they not sign the item. I bought some original art and the artist asked if I wanted him to sign it. I laughed and said "You drew the whole page, a signature isn't going to make it more personal than that."
The most valuable signatures are going to be the ones you get from creators that specifically don't sign their name for everyone that asks. Rob Liefeld's signature would be relatively common. Someone like Barry Windsor Smith would be more significant.

Somewhere out there in the wild there are some Charlemagne #4's signed by me on the letters page. Those are friggin' priceless. LOL! A comic shop thought it would be funny if my published letter was signed by me and in their stock. I obliged even though I felt I was devaluing a worthless comic.
