Hi everyone! New to the forum. After numerous years of being out of the comic book game, I've found myself sucked back into my childhood hobby. Long story short, I was going through my old collection and would like to get an answer to a burning question I've had for decades. How bad does the black check mark on my Amazing Spider-man #6 affect the grade/value?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hi, I have an "Amazing Spider-Man" #113 that I would say is in FINE condition (a few snaps in the spine, spine is a tiny bit worn), but some idiot punched a hole in the cover page at the top in the "G" in "MARVEL COMICS GROUP" with a hole punch.
Also, I have a #105 that's in better shape, but some idiot wrote on the back cover at the top, in cursive, "bought in 1971".
How much do these things lower the value?
The hole punch in the cover is treated like a "piece out" or a "cut out" that's roughly the same size... ~3-5mm. That's in the F/VF (7.0) range. Maybe a 7.5 (VF-). The same goes for the writing on back. It's in pen, and scribbled all over the back cover. *Just* the date, like "2/3/71" would be better than "Bought in", but it's on the back so I'd say a 7.5 or an 8.0 (VF- or VF). That's what grade THOSE DEFECTS are in. If the comic's overall appearance is MUCH better than 7.5/8.0, then bump it up a little. If it has other defects that make it worse... then those will hurt it.
