Since variants are all the rage as of late, i'm trying to see into the desirability of actual key comics of the Mark Jeweler variant. I have Iron Man 55 MJ. Any one have any experience with completion collectors and MJ variants?

The Mark Jeweler 'craze' is fairly new, and overblown in my opinion, but there's an apparently growing number of 'collectors' who pay more for these issues. why anyone cares about an advertisement is beyond me. They are NOT rare, but people keep pushing that. They were distributed on military bases and then got filtered out to the general public one way or another, but I've owned several just buying by mail order and at shows, back when no one cared and it was just luck to get one. The insert often made a line on the cover as it wasn't the same size as the comic pages, as you may have seen, so that tends to lower the grades a bit, even if otherwise NM, but some don't care, as it's kinda standard.
You should find these threads on the CGC forum informative, but one of them was started in 2011 before this craze became something, so most opinions at that time were that the insert was not worth a premium. But it's a long thread and opinions might have changed some towards the end of it, I didn't check.

This post notes that GPA, a site/service that tracks graded comics, has added separate listings for various inserts in 2019, so that says there's some kind of market for them, so they made it easier to track them. if you do a search for Mark Jeweler or Jewelers there, you find plenty more posts, some are sales posts. You'll find some collectors of them there you can PM or post to if you join. Lots of reading there for you.
