My well read original copy that I bought off the spinner rack as a kid.

Ghost Rider #1

I should have upgraded this. This is the copy I bought as a kid. Strangely, by the time he got his own series, I didn't like what they were doing with him. I always like the Marvel Spotlight issues better.

Marvel 1991 Annual Report #1

Marvel 1992 Annual Report #2

Marvel 1993 Annual Report #3

Marvel 1994 Annual Report #4

The Ultraverse make a cameo #4 and there is a reference to them on the first page. Ultraverse collectors may want to add this to their list.

This has a backup Doctor Who story by Dave Gibbons. smile

First series of Moon Knight was really fun.
And I dig those Micronauts. I even have a few of the toys.

If you REALLY love comics, that "Secrets Behind the Comics" is a must-have. (And I DON'T have... YET!)

I'm still working on my full run of Battlestar Galactica and Micronauts. I ended up with about 4 copies of Micronauts #1 - "Oooo! THIS one looks better than the last one I bought!"

Keep this stuff a-coming! Cuz I'm a-lookin'!

I like oddball stuff. I acquired these all at different times. It took me awhile to get them all. These went out to stockholders of Marvel.
I don't think they published anymore after the market collapsed, but I could be wrong.

I'm still a Mike Ploog fan to this day. I was a big fan of Ghost Rider and I like the movies. I don't care what the movies were even about. A flaming skull is cool no matter what he's doing.

I have Marvel's first Dr. Who stories with him on the cover. I can't remember what title it was in... maybe Marvel Premiere.

Micronauts #1 was one of the hottest books around in 1982. It was selling for $10 which was a lot for a new comic back then. After getting out of comics for ten years, Micronauts #1 taught me a lot. It was back in dollar boxes in 1992. My purchase of Iron Man #1 for $10 had gone up to be worth about $150. It taught me to not get hooked on fads even though it's a nice book to own. My X-Men #1 had gone up in value from $100 to $600. I learned to not put confidence in fads and I learned that key books will have a long term steady increase. I learned to buy the key books in a series as early as possible and then fill in the cheaper ones later.

I don't care much about this, but it was a premium book that was harder to get.

Homage Studios had a fan club offering back around the time of Wildcats #2 I think. It was early. I was not a big image fan, but I joined the club to see what kind of freebies they'd send out.

Here are scans of what you'd get...

Club Homage Newsletter Vol. 1 #1

Two buttons...

3 postcards, well the StrykeForce is a postcard and the other two are odd shaped images on card stock...

One introductory letter..

One trivia flyer..

Two poor quality flyers trying to sell limited ashcan comics..

Randy Queen was a local artist. Darkchylde looks VERY much like Jennifer the girl who sold him comics at a local comic shop.
I would mess with her and say things like "Wow, he sure imagined you with barely any clothes on at all!" She'd give me a look like she wanted to strangle me. It was priceless. She told me once that I was one of her favorite people because when the really annoying customers would come in and want to carry on really geeky conversations with her, I'd just say one or two sarcastic sentences and they'd shut up. She'd say "I don't even know if you know you are doing it." I'd say "I knew. I wanted them to shut up too." She'd smile.

Darkchylde #½ with certificate

I believe this to be the 1st Michael Turner credits at Image. I was still buying Witchblade when I picked this up. I wasn't reading it though. I thought Michael Turners art was pretty, nothing more. I think he just has inking credits in the and only as one whoassisted.

Anyone who has read a Continuity book before 1990 has probably seen an ad for Freak Show. After almost 20 years from the time the first ads ran, I asked Bernie Wrightson if Freak Show would ever see the light of day. His response was, "Oh, it's coming out next month?"

So, it did come out from Image and I bought the hardback.

Sadly, he is in VERY poor health. He may not be around much longer.
