Laura Kinney, or X-23, is a mutant created using Wolverine’s DNA. The Facility aimed to clone Wolverine for their private assassin program. Geneticist Sarah Kinney mixed her own genetic material with Wolverine’s, becoming the surrogate mother to X-23. Brutally trained in the Facility, X-23 escaped with Kinney’s help. She later tracked Wolverine to the X-Mansion but chose to join the Xavier Institute instead. X-23 has been part of the X-Men, X-Force, and Avengers Academy. She now embraces her role as the all-new Wolverine and considers Wolverine her father. Meeting clones of herself led to a new family dynamic, and she now resides in the mutant nation of Krakoa as a popular hero among mutants and an X-Men member.
