It remains unknown, but at one point Eve was human before coming to work for the man named Gideon. When Gideon and the other Externals began looking for the final External to ascend, and came to believe it was a business associate and CEO of Da Costa International's son Roberto Da Costa, Adam had her placed as Emmanuel Da Costa personal secretary. One day well working at the headquarters of Da Costa International, in Brazil, when Gideon gave the go ahead and Eve delivered Emmanuel his coffee; it was poisoned and he fell over dead.
At some uncertain point Eve, going by the alias Eve Magdalene, came to work at Taylor Foundation at the Ambrose Building, Manhattan, where she became a board member proxy for Ophrah Industries. When both controlling shareholders of Taylor Foundation, Tai died and Chord incapacitated, and Chord later faking his kidnapping, the business was in a state of flux. As such Gideon began a hostile takeover starting with GeneTech, who was supported by Tai and Chord, and later the Taylor Foundation. With events playing out Taylor as Night Thrasher began investigating. His investigation eventually leads him to Eve's office at Ophrah Industries, Denver, finding it empty he detects a power source upstairs. Once there, he finds that Eve was a Life-Model Decoy and was either recharging or downloading data. Do to Taylor leaving a time bomb, Eve couldn't make it to the board meeting, and even though Gideon had another of his employees Evelyn Crawford take her place, it was left up to the stockholders of Ophrah and GeneTech to decide. With Taylor beating out Gideon by 3 votes.
Eve, later had her consciousness programmed in her current vessel's AI, an intensely expensive robot designed to continue assisting Gideon. So when Selene tried to end his life, Gideon had his body taken to a Ophrah Industries Compound, Colorado, Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, and placed in stasis. Eve watched over him while attending to Ophrah's investors, it's many trade secrets, the over twenty powerful telepaths and telekinetics. When Externals started dying again Cable and his team lead them there, Eve warned by the telepaths, welcomed them. When a threat to Gideon was perceived after Doop tapped on the stasis pod, as the Compounds security measure, Adam, become active. Eve tried to calm the situation down until another Gideon appeared. When Cable struck this Gideon, Adam's programming tookover and he ran to attack, but had this body destroyed by X-23. Eve took Adam's severed head as this uncaring Gideon threw it aside, she left the room with him, taking Adam's head and leaving X-Force to their doom.
