Avalanche is one of the more common villains of the X-Men, yet even with his popularity his past still remains a great mystery. All that is really known about his time before becoming a member of the Brotherhood of Mutants is that he immigrated to America from Crete, the largest and most populous island in Greece. He is also married to Helen Petros, but aside from this he has no other known relatives, however, this does make him one of the few supervillains who is actually married.
