Odin, King of Asgard and protector of the Ten Realms belongs to the Asgardian race—a group of humanoid beings from the pocket dimension of Asgard. In ancient times, he was revered as the god of wisdom by the Vikings on Midgard. Odin is considered the wisest and most potent of the Asgardians. He also serves on the Council of Godheads, defending against threats to Earth’s pantheons. His name commands respect and fear throughout the Universe. As the son of Bor and Bestla, brother to Vili, Ve, and Cul, and husband of Freyja, Odin has fathered many children, including Vidar, Balder, and his son and heir, Thor. During a battle against the Frost Giants of Jotunheim, he defeated their leader, Laufey, and discovered his abandoned son, Loki, whom he adopted with hopes of bringing peace to both realms. However, when Loki learned the truth, he turned resentful, seeking to usurp Odin’s throne.
